Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is now tearing into one of the rivals he long declined to criticize: retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson.
In a CNN interview on Thursday, the real-estate magnate attacked Carson's religiosity, persona, qualifications for the presidency, views on abortion — and even his medical record.
"He was a doctor, perhaps an OK doctor, by the way. You should check that out too. We're not talking about a great [doctor]. He was an OK doctor," Trump said.
As a doctor, Carson drew national attention at John Hopkins "by conducting a succession of operations that had never been performed successfully," according to The New York Times, "most famously planning and managing the first separation of conjoined twins connected through major blood vessels in the brain."
Trump said he was criticizing Carson because the retired brain surgeon took a shot at him the day before. CNN reported that Carson was asked at an event how he was different from Trump, and he responded by comparing their faith in God.
"Probably the biggest thing — I've realized where my success has come from and I don't in anyway deny my faith in God," replied Carson, a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church. "By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life, and that's a very big part of who I am. I don't get that impression with him."
Some political observers have suggested that Trump could struggle to win over evangelical voters because of his casual public approach to his own religion. For example, Trump has said he doesn't seek forgiveness from God and referred to Holy Communion as eating "my little cracker" and drinking "my little wine."

I guess by that standard then Trump is businessman. Not a great businessman, but perhaps an OK one.
I like u Miss Marmalade. I swear I was commenting to someone on here just the other day that exact sentiment when they claimed they wanted old fashioned values out of Trump. I explained how some of our founding fathers accused other founding fathers of being sons of whores, and suggested they read Shakespeare and understand the vulgar double entendre. Suggested they were merely wishing for uptight Victorian values. They ended up agreeing with me. First time I have ever seen a Freeper change his mind ;-)
I don’t get the shock and outrage here. Most of it is false to achieve a political end.
Trump holds his fire until fired upon then he unloads.
Carson boasted of his own faith and took a shot at Trump. Trump, as he always does, goes on the counterattack. Hard.
One either likes that by now about him, hates it, or doesn’t care.

Dr. Carson is obviously super brilliant, and look at the tremendously better quality of life so many will have because of him.
While not on my short list, because he wants to make vaccines mandatory (and some other things), I do think Carson a fine man, and he’s certainly higher on my list than Trump (who is at the bottom).
I’m from NY State, and Trump was considering running for governor. But he said he would not run if the GOP had a gubernatorial primary. The State GOP chairman, Ed Cox, said Donald Trump would have to follow the same rules as everybody else. Trump is a control freak, and I believe he would try to control Americans to he hilt if he were president.
What are Carson’s current views on abortion?

I told several friends in the beginning that you cannot keep yourself in the top of the Network TV ratings for TWELVE years and not learn something about successfully CONNECTING with people.
I see where some of the honest pundits are beginning to acknowledge that Trump may be UNSTOPPABLE.

It’s early in the morning and I’m catching up on the news of the day. I can’t help but notice that on each Trump thread there you are, commenting about Trump’s marriages.
I find it hilarious, do you think anyone cares about that at this stage? Or that anyone isn’t already aware of this fact? Just curious as it seems to be a sticking point for you.

You may be right. Conservatives used to care about virtue, faithfulness, and marital fidelity. I suppose now that many do not. Judging by your statements you do not care. I suppose many of them who do not care were, as the Clinton supporters said, merely being hypocritical when they chided Clinton for perjury about felatio and his extra marital affairs.

Trump is an unabashed braggart who has no sense of humility. Carson never forgets that it all comes from hard work and God’s grace.
Jeez you guys will grasp at anything. It’s a sad parody to watch as the nation tumbles ever further into chaos. But hey, keep reminding people about those marriages, it’s very very important! I mean really, Jeb has been married to the same woman forever!
