Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is now tearing into one of the rivals he long declined to criticize: retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson.
In a CNN interview on Thursday, the real-estate magnate attacked Carson's religiosity, persona, qualifications for the presidency, views on abortion and even his medical record.
"He was a doctor, perhaps an OK doctor, by the way. You should check that out too. We're not talking about a great [doctor]. He was an OK doctor," Trump said.
As a doctor, Carson drew national attention at John Hopkins "by conducting a succession of operations that had never been performed successfully," according to The New York Times, "most famously planning and managing the first separation of conjoined twins connected through major blood vessels in the brain."
Trump said he was criticizing Carson because the retired brain surgeon took a shot at him the day before. CNN reported that Carson was asked at an event how he was different from Trump, and he responded by comparing their faith in God.
"Probably the biggest thing I've realized where my success has come from and I don't in anyway deny my faith in God," replied Carson, a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church. "By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life, and that's a very big part of who I am. I don't get that impression with him."
Some political observers have suggested that Trump could struggle to win over evangelical voters because of his casual public approach to his own religion. For example, Trump has said he doesn't seek forgiveness from God and referred to Holy Communion as eating "my little cracker" and drinking "my little wine."

BTW IMHO John Boehner looks like Humphrey Bogart’s twin.
Not the Casablanca Bogie, but more like the strawberry McQueeg !!!!!!
That would be "eminent" domain.
Yeah, he’s a bit of a drag, isn’t he? Probably works well in a hospital setting, though. You want a calm, low-key doctor to give you the bad news!
And Churchill, too, had to put up with the pearl-clutchers and fainting-couch owners. This is a man who walked nude around the private quarters of the white house. Let’s see if Trump can stop that!
The process of selecting a president requires that we all judge the candidates, and by running for office they are asking us to do that. If asked to judge Trump's faith, I would have to say I don't see much evidence of it in any of his actions. But just as Carson concluded his remarks, "I could be wrong."
And BTW, I don't in any way think that this disqualifies Trump.
We are supposed to judge candidates for office, but it is impossible to judge a person’s heart. Remember the verse in Matthew: Lord, we preached in your name, cast out demons in your name, healed in your name, did mighty works in your name.”
verdict: I never knew you. Matt. 7:22

“Carson is not an evangelical.”
Carson appeals to Evangelicals. Trump is starting to sound thin-skinned.
There are lots of things to criticize about Dr. Carson as a Presidential contender; mainly, his sheer and utter lack of political experience.
It looks small - and bereft of better ideas - to say he’s ‘just an OK doctor’.

However, it is perfectly okay, to look down from the spiritual heights, and dismiss someone’s claim to religious faith as mere political chatter (and all the ramifications that leads to). Yes, sir, that makes someone look large-minded.
I like Trump. I just want him to act up to a higher standard, regardless of what others do.
And this is the only of his little barbs that I’ve objected to, largely because it makes him look ignorant. Dr. Carson is an extremely accomplished surgeon; not ‘just ok.’

So Mr. Carson thinks riches, honor and life come from humilit and fear of the Lord?? Trump is richer. More honored and "life" is kind of ambiguous I guess. So by extension Trump is more humble and fears the Lord more.
Your post is spot on. Especially this. You can SEE the pride in Carson on this point...especially this point.
I’m sure the GOPe is very happy today, the happiest they’ve been since Trump announced. Trump and Carson going at it is the best thing that could happen for them next to Trump and Cruz going at it. If Trump and Cruz ever start going after each other, FR is going to go full post-apocalyptic.
The question was to contrast himself with Trump, so he was saying he was more humble than Trump.
It’s ok to say someone’s more humble than you. Saying you’re more humble than him is a contradiction in terms.
It's a quote of scripture.
“. I think he is really uncomfortable being out of his element like he is now.”
Out of his element? He’s loving it - he’s the most sought-after and talked about person in America right now.
” I’ve realized where my success has come from and I don’t in anyway deny my faith in God,” replied Carson, a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church. “By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life, and that’s a very big part of who I am. Can you say self righteous?
Who can blame him for the foreign wives. Most, but not all American women that look like his wives have looked are rabid feminists.
