The label of “sinner” is lifted once the person believes. Not because the person won’t ever do anything evil again. But because the label has been transferred to Christ. The unsaved person bears that label himself.
The proud state of man is that he wants to take the personal moral burdens. It is of a piece with the Garden sin. You know good and evil, the onus goes on you. But those burdens will kill anybody.
I think that's presumptive. Like one has God in a box in his pocket. God has to forgive him no matter what he does, thinks or believes, no matter if he repents for it or not.
I don’t know why “Christians” like to confuse and make it just so damn hard to get into the Kingdom. Must be that seeping pride that still reigns within each of us until we’re killed off in this evil flesh?
FWIW, there is ONLY ONE UNFORGIVEABLE SIN. And here it is:
Mark 3:28-29
Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”
Luke 12:10
And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
You go to your grave, denying Jesus is Lord & God and that He wasn’t Crucified for your sins and did not Rise from the Dead, then you are damned, and that is the eternal sin.
We all have a debt to pay, and we can either allow Christ to pay for it, or we pay for it ourselves—eternally.
