The label of “sinner” is lifted once the person believes. Not because the person won’t ever do anything evil again. But because the label has been transferred to Christ. The unsaved person bears that label himself.
The proud state of man is that he wants to take the personal moral burdens. It is of a piece with the Garden sin. You know good and evil, the onus goes on you. But those burdens will kill anybody.
Totally agree with this assessment.
Too proud to be honest with God and just say, "I am not fitted for this office in the church. I must give it up, go get a job to feed myself and my family, and accept the discipline of s spiritual mentor."
Some people simply will not face going back to square one and restarting.
