Among the Republican presidential candidates, Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz have stood out as the two most ardent defenders of Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, who was recently jailed after refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses in her jurisdiction. The two conservatives made a point to travel down to the Carter County Detention Center on Tuesday to join protesters in support of Davis, but the plans changed slightly when a judge ordered her immediate release.
And then comes the following doozy from the New York Times write-up of this afternoons Kim Davis Release Extravaganza (emphasis ours):
"The rally Tuesday had been scheduled before it was known whether Ms. Davis would be released. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, also a Republican presidential contender, made an appearance, but it was Mr. Huckabee, a former Baptist pastor, who grabbed the political spotlight.
When Senator Cruz exited the jail a throng of journalists beckoned him toward their microphones, but an aide to Mr. Huckabee blocked the path of Mr. Cruz, who appeared incredulous."
You must be shocked, dear reader, to learn that Huckabee planned to hog the Davis-induced political spotlight all for himself. Why else would he make such a low-key statement like Im willing to go to jail in her place?
Huck is getting desperate. He knows there is no scapegoat rule in US laws right now. Then again, maybe the SCOTUS could make one Constitutional. ‘Looks like Hillary may need one, too.
As it should. How ya been? Mom always liked you best. ;-)
Yep, Trump sure doesn’t let anybody stand in his way, does he. Even if they have a constitutional right to stand in his way:

Cruz is the better man, IMHO. Not perfect. Nobody but God is perfect. But Cruz I could trust at the helm of these united states.
Peace,
SR
If I were Cruz I would invite Huckabee to some other event and treat him with respect just to show who the bigger man really is.
Looking at your posts, you might as well be. When someone brought up Trump's defense of his pro partial-birth abortion sister, you called the person "narrow-minded."
" and Cruz is only a saint in your mind."
Pretty childish, aren't you?
"Judging by your tone of "Atheist that you are" you must be a holier than thou hypocrite...or a bigot."
Yeah.
If you're against a partial-birth abortion supporter, you're narrow-minded.
And if you don't fawn over atheists, you're a bigot.
You're just another liberal.
Are you kidding? IN the age of smart phones, a confrontation would have hit the internet, and become viral in 15 minutes. Cruz didn't need that kind of press. He did the smart thing.
Exactly. This was the Huckster's throwing the dice in a last gasp attempt to get a few percentage points in the polls.
He's toast.
The Huckstermeister wanted that photo op all to himself.
