The very next week our office environment started to change dramatically. A huge influx of foreign workers from South Asia started to arrive at numerous buildings on the Disney Orlando campus in very large numbers. A foreign language was suddenly being spoken throughout the building hallways. Everywhere I went, including the company cafeteria, the composition of the company changed so much in the period of only a week.
The first 30 days was focused on capturing all that I did with my job. We started getting mandatory meeting invitations for KT or Knowledge Transfer sessions showing on our calendars. The daily sessions involved us training our foreign replacements for several hours. We all felt humiliated when the foreign workers sat next to us and watched everything that we did.

That is what i would do.
I personally know 3 people with similar IT positions. They were faced with similar situations. These three people chose your coarse of action.
They were called in to management offices, and summarily fired for cause.
Being fired for cause meant the following:
No severance package.
No exit bonus.
No letter of recommendation or references.
No access to company sponsored job placement services.
and most importantly, NO UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION.
That's the reality of what happens in the IT field when you do not properly train your own replacement.
I like Cruz too.
But, I send pings to these threads to his campaign.
Donald Trump should play this up. Right in Jeb’s home state.
I’m beginning to understand, only now, why Ross Perot hated the Bush family.
“Train them WRONG...”
I started an 11 year run at the Anaheim Theme Park, as a temp, in night audit, filling in for a lady who was on leave. After four months, they disbanded the department, so one guy did exactly that. When the transition was complete, everyone, including myself, was hired in other areas, except for that fellow. Even people who had worked with him for over a decade, and liked him, were left with ill will towards him.
Now I have to agree, they were an awful company to work for, as soon as I saved enough to buy my first home, I left (on good terms) - NOTHING is as important as your good name, and he trashed his. Too bad, really.
Thank you.
BTDT only it took 5 to replace me. But, hey, it was tax dollars that paid their salaries so what difference did it make.
Now what would happen if one couldn’t cut someone off, save for severance, by quitting prior to such knowledge transfer? It would otherwise be equivalent to experiencing the layoff earlier.
My Dad worked in engineering for hotels. His job security was in how he installed and wired in equipment systems. He did the same when installing laundries in same when he was independent. He knew where all the bodies were buried so to say. He retired with full benefits and his widow, my Stepmom benefits from that today. He was grandfathered in on his plan from ITT when Starwood bought them out. Have to say the old guy truly beat the system. So grateful for this as my Stepmom is in Alzheimer’s care and the medical benefits regarding prescription drugs are worth so much more than the premium paid.
But didn’t H. Ross endorse GWB in 1994?
That is certainly a credit to your Dad, glad he figured it out :)
Thanks! He was a cantankerous no nonsense self educated man...he decided who was worthy for him to “trade” with and let you know pretty clearly if you were indebted to him. He did have a soft side...I as one of his daughters could see that. I miss him. Now taking care of my Stepmom. I know he loved her and was very upset at her dementia. Hope I can meet that high bar he always set for himself.
Ohhh, you mean "the good ones" Trump wants to bring back?
Very tragic: the American people if they were smart would boycott all things Disney, but they won’t.
Those are bribes not contributions.
Has he not seen the results of this?
There ya go..
“Has he not seen the results of this?”
I suspect he has, yet, who is paying his paychecks?
I bet you learned well, and will do just fine !
Does anyone know what the severance package was for this employee?
