Is God's Judgement Against Us Inevitable?
Townhall.com ^ | September 6, 2015 | Michael Youssef

Posted on 09/06/2015 9:19:49 AM PDT by Kaslin

America, and the West, seem to be sinking into the abyss, and it’s time to ask: Is God’s judgement now inevitable?

In contemplating the answer, we should consider some of the obvious reasons why judgment could come soon:

  1. The blood of millions of innocent lives is shed and body parts are sold for profit in this country, while our government supports and funds such monstrous activity.
  2. God’s purpose in Creation, and His declared purpose for marriage, has been ignored and ruled against by the highest court in the land.
  3. Police authority is devalued by a great many people and undermined by political leaders.
  4. God-fearing, Bible-believing Christians are forbidden by the U.S. administration from saying the name of their God in the military.
  5. European businessmen and government officials cannot wait to do business with Iran—a leading state sponsor of the persecution and murder of innocent people.
  6. Persecuted Christians from the Middle East and elsewhere are forbidden entry visas into the United States and Europe. And yet illegal aliens—terrorists among them—get in and are given support.
  7. News programs report nearly every day on the rape and murder of Christian women and children by ISIS, while our government leaders cannot be bothered to condemn it, let alone do something about it.
  8. A sex change operation can get you a call from the highest office holder in the land to commend you for your “courage,” while families of fallen soldiers receive nothing.
  9. Those who announce their choice to reject God’s created order become heroes, while those who have taken a vow of poverty and serve the least among us are discriminated against.

With those, and many other government decisions made to marginalize righteousness and the righteous, can God’s judgment be far behind?

We can already see the signs of the lifting of God’s hand upon America through the cowardice of today’s politicians. Lying by public officials is rampant (and is even considered a virtue by many). Politicians refer to their political opponents as terrorists, while at the same time, they refuse to label the real terrorists as such.Elected government officials, out of fear of criticism, hide behind parliamentary maneuvers to avoid obeying the Constitution and allowing religious liberty.

We are already reaping the leaders that we deserve.

Twenty-six hundred years ago, a similar situation took place among a people who had once believed in and worshipped the one true God. The rulers and the people of the day had abandoned God.

But God sent them spokesmen to deliver the truth—among them a man named Jeremiah.

Jeremiah warned and warned and warned them that God’s judgment could not be stayed forever. God’s principle of sowing and reaping will be carried out unless there is a perceptible change.

But no one would listen. They mocked God, and Jeremiah was vilified—just as today’s spokesmen are, such as myself.

Sadly, the inevitable judgment came. Terrorists from Babylon entered the “Promised Land” and maimed and killed many and took others hostage. Of course, the same people who had mocked God, then cried out, “Where is God?”

The very God they had insulted, the very God they had rejected, then ironically became the object of their ire for not answering their pleas and giving them the prosperity they wanted.

What form of judgment will God take this time? Only He knows the answer to that. But our country can still turn to Him now, before it is too late. If we don’t, however, God’s judgment will be inevitable.

You are instructing me on Shemitta? I suggest you look at my FR page because my book on the topic long predates Cahn's and he's dead wrong about a number of its critical attributes which are obvious in Scripture (particularly Deuteronomy 31:10-11).

All debts were to have been forgiven at the start of Shemitta, which was eleven months ago. There is no definitive proof that the year to come is a Yoveil, which was more about setting slaves free and reintegrating tribal families with which to preserve the command structure and familial integrity of the national militia than it was about debt.

While it is true that abortion, homosexuality and all the other sins we commit have been around forever, it is only in the last 50 years that we, as a nation, have started to celebrate the sin and call it good. We have rejected God and His wisdom for the ‘pleasure’ that leads to death, as people and as a nation.

No I’m correcting you. I thought you would have realized that. :-)

No more so than at any other “difficult” time in our history.

If I recall my bible, there is only one nation that God gives a hoot about, it’s not the USA.

I don’t it’s called being called good...It’s just abolishing laws against it.

"Is God’s judgement now inevitable?"

We know it is inevitable, because the Bible tells us so.

But much more than that - it is coming soon (almost hard to believe how quickly things are accelerating).

Get right with Jesus. Now.

You don't know your Bible. There's only one way to be saved, and that's through Jesus Christ, and that fact is repeated in the New Testament. You're saying that a nation of people which rejects God's son, a nation that is credited with murdering God's son, is saved? Absolute nonsense.

In the Old Testament, Israel was chosen as God's people:

Deut 14:2: For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

But it wasn't unconditional. It was always conditioned upon their obedience to God. In other words, if Israel fell away, God would disown them and take away His gift of the Promised Land. That's exactly what he did.

1 Kings 9:6 But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them: 7 Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:

Again, Deut 4:25 When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger: 26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.

At Kadesh Barnea after the multitude followed the faithless spies' negative report, God was going to disinherit them.

Num 14:11 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them? 12 I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they.

Again, after Korah and company were destroyed,

Num 16:41-47 But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the LORD. And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared. And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces. And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun. And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people.

Here's a warning by Joshua (Joshua 23:11-13):

Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God. Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you: Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.

Again, Joshua 23:16:

When ye have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.

Again, here's God's proclamation that he was going to take away Israel's "promised land."

1 Kings 14:15-16: For the LORD will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water. He will uproot Israel from this good land which He gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their wooden images, provoking the LORD to anger. And He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who sinned and who made Israel sin.

2 Kings 21:8 Neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.

If the Lord had guaranteed Israel eternal possession of (what was formerly) the Promised Land, there would not have been so many warnings re Israel forfeiting that gift.

National Israel has no guarantees from God. The only guarantees are those who come into Jesus Christ.

John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

There is absolutely nothing beneficial by being a descendant of Abraham, viz. being a Jew.

John the Baptist couldn't have said it any more succinctly. Why can't you people understand?

Matthew 3:9: And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

John proceeded to encourage the Jews to become Christians. That was the point of his discourse.

The dispensational delusion that infects the religious world today contends that people (Jews) who reject Jesus Christ can be saved. That's false doctrine bordering on insanity.

“If the representative number of the righteous is pleasing to God. . He will spare America and give us more time to make her a “shining city upon a hill” as we pledged to do at the beginning or our history.”

What about when Israel and Judah were invaded by the Babylonians?

Yes, Sodom and Gomorrah were punished and because Lot was there Abraham got a good deal. But they were cities, not nations declaring they are Jewish or Christian.

Not if, but when. The blood of 55 Million aborted babies cries out against us. And then the poor children being adopted out to Sodomites/pedophiles. Get your house in order...for judgment is already here, but it is going to get a lot worse. But Jesus is coming soon!

The two kingdoms at the time were the northern tribes and Judah (with Benjamin). Theirs was an on again/off again relationship with God. They followed a pattern of obedience, then disobedience, then warning and/or punishment, then return to God.

Hosea 5:15 is a warning from God concerning their disobedience (Ephraim and Judah to be exact). But this isn’t the destruction of Judaism. Because in the very next verse, 6:1, they repented and returned.

Adam Clarke’s commentary on Hosea 6:1: “ When God had purposed to abandon them, and they found that he had returned to his place-to his temple, where alone he could be successfully sought; they, feeling their weakness, and the fickleness, weakness, and unfaithfullness of their idols and allies, now resolve to "return to the Lord;" and, referring to what he said, Hos 5:14: "I will tear and go away;" they say, he "hath torn, but he will heal us;" their allies had torn, but they gave them no healing. While, therefore, they acknowledge the justice of God in their punishment, they depend on his well-known mercy and compassion for restoration to life and health.”

Hosea 5 and 6 do not refer to the destruction of Jerusalem. Jesus prophesied about this (as did Daniel). Jesus’ prophecy is in Matthew 24.

Roman general (later, emperor) Titus destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD. The Roman troops destroyed the temple as well as all the genealogical records. These records enable Jews to trace their ancestry back to Abraham. If they could trace their ancestry to Abraham then they could claim the promises to Abraham’s descendents in Genesis 12. Once these records were gone no Jew could verify the lineage. Judaism was effectively dead.

Some people (who don’t know their Bible) make the false claim that just because someone claims to be a Jew, they have God’s eternal promises for salvation, etc. That’s nonsense.

Judaism was already totally corrupt by the time Christ lived. For example, an encounter that Jesus had with Jewish leaders in Mark 7:6-8: “Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.”

John the Baptist also told them, “And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.” (Matt 3:9-10) Already, at the time of John the Baptist, he was dispelling the fable that being a Jew was anything special.

Jews reject Christ. Reform Jews reject God. They’re mostly atheist. And for anybody to suggest the idiotic notion that they’re going to be saved (unless they denounce religious error and become faithful New Testament Christians) is preposterous. That would make God a respecter of persons which, He is not. (Acts 10:34)

No, you missed it. Let's look at Hosea 5:15 verbatim:

15I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

Who's speaking here?

If you returned to your home, you had to leave in the first place!

So, who's speaking here?

You're taking it out of context. Read the whole book, then focus on 6:1. They were warned, they repented, all was well. All of that already happened.

But that's not this discussion. This discussion has to do with the repeated suggestions that Jews are somehow going to get special consideration from God even though they hold Him, and His Son, in contempt. That's the discussion.

Believe what you want concerning the book of Hosea, but you're wrong. You're guilty of eisegesis.

This discussion, the discussion into which you interjected a totally unrelated passage, actually has to do with the various nonsensical dispensational hypotheses that circulate on FR. Hypotheses which are totally unfounded and unscriptural.

Again, the fulfillment of Hosea 5:15 is in 6:1.
