There’s Only One Candidate People Actually Like – and It’s Not Trump or Clinton (it's Ben Carson)
The Fiscal Times ^ | September 3, 2015 | Rob Garver

Posted on 09/03/2015 6:00:55 PM PDT by EveningStar

The only one of the declared presidential candidates that Americans have positive feelings for overall isn’t a frontrunner and has never held public office before. According to a poll released Thursday by Public Policy Polling, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson is the sole presidential candidate whose favorability rating is higher than his or her unfavorability rating.

When asked about Carson, 41 percent of the respondents in the national poll reported that they felt favorably about him, compared to 30 percent who have an unfavorable view. That puts him well ahead of all the other candidates in the field, though 29 percent of respondents said they were not familiar enough with Carson to make a judgment about him, suggesting that those numbers could change as he becomes more widely known. The only other candidate to come close to an overall favorable rating was former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, who at 32/35 had an overall favorability rating of -3.

Carson is a brilliant neurosurgeon managing thousands of other brilliant neurosurgeons and assistants at NIH. I have worked there installing leading edge medical imaging technology in the distant past. These people were uncommonly smart and dedicated.

He made life and death decisions on a daily basis and came out the other end totally at peace with himself.

Unlike Trump, and just like me, he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth but was taught the value of reading, education and hard work by a loving Mother who was steeped in self reliance and an old time work ethic.

He is a kind man with some steel in his belly and a lack of arrogance witnessed by his willingness to learn from his novice political mistakes and correct them. See 2nd amendment problems.

I am 64 years old and have yet to see any evidence that government experience in elected officers yields better government.

I don’t care what color he is.

I do care that he is a man I could trust and america could do a lot worse than Ben Carson. Witness Bill and Hill Clinton, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, jeb Bush, John Kasich and yes Donald Trump.

But I don’t expect anybody to agree with me. I don’t worship poloiticians, atheletes or Hollywood stars, only God and He knows I am a sinner who has made my share of mistakes. Perhaps this is another one but I go where my intellect and senses lead me. It kept me alive this long so I will stick with it.

PS: My first choice is Cruz but unfortuanately he lacks that intangible that draws masses of people too him. But he will get my vote in the primary.

I've got quite a few doctors in my family; some were specialists' specialists. Not a one of them should even think about running for president !

You never know; right now, NOBODY out there ( not connected to Carson ) knows much about him at all.

Fox Snooze is no longer a reliable source. They will lie, cheat, and steal to harm Trump. Fox is nothing but a politically motivated social commentary channel.

Why are you wasting my time and your time? The ‘writer’ is wrong. It’s been all over the news and blogosphere that Trump’s favorability ratings have done a ‘180’ and are now 2 to 1 favorable to unfavorable.

The Monmouth poll is not indicative of much of anything. It’s already supplanted by other meatier polls in the last day and half.

The Rove ‘conspiracy’ is not a conspiracy, it is a logical inference from prior experience of how he works. He will fund a slew of paid/push polls until he sees if the expense bears any return. Carson whether he knows it or not is likely a trial balloon.

You do know that the Bush-Rove strategy has been revealed don’t you? And you should know that they are failing. Push polling Carson is a way of taking the shine off Trump’s support. It won’t work.

If the Monmouth poll is not a Rove concoction, then the expected and now dismissed results are probably originating from a defective sampling plan or in the nature of the questions themselves. Monmouth is not known to be strong. They are considered lightweight, heard only during periods of dead news or early day news.

All polls these days are riddled by non-responses. Some indication of accurate snapshots are indicated when most polls ‘hang together’, are consistent but even then some of them look at others perceived as more credible and they will skew results to fit the narrative but not look so out of sync with others.

These days. one much take into account social media, positives to negatives but even them many social media responses are robotic, literally, with fake profiles.

Then there’s the age old and worn indication of what people are saying at the local barbershop or beauty parlor followed by conversations at local markets and cafes. Taking those sentiments and aggregating them with observations taken similarly from across the country shared via social media, and factoring in poll consistency gives a little more accurate view. But it’s never complete.

For many different reasons; not the least of them being that some people might find him “likable”, but that doesn’t mean they’d vote for him. I won’t.

I grew up knowing many pols, quite a few "stars", and have NEVER "worshipped" any man; that is only how I view GOD.

Cruz was my first choice, but sadly he doesn't seem to be able to catch fire.

Carson does NOT have what it takes re anything at all, vis-a-vis president. Who pushed him into running/is backing him besides John Phillip Sousa IV ?

Even wee barry, the amateur, was/is less of an amateur than Ben is and I don't trust Carson re dealing with Putin or even Congress !

I also have known neurosurgeons and probably many more than you because that is my business. Installing leading edge imaging technology in their labs for non interventional stuff. Some are as you describe them, some come to work in genes and smoke cigars when we are on the golf course. Others are total aholes while a good percentage are regular guys who would do anything for a friend. One of those spoke to a former army collegue in South Carolina who was a specialist in what ailed my daughter at my request. He operated on my daughter, removed three large fibroids in a precarious position and exactly 12 months later my daughter had triplets. True story. neurosurgeons are a cross section, some as you describe, others who go to the range with me and still others who would not give you or I the time of day. Carson is not one of those.

You’re missing the point..... screw FOX News. I only watched it tonight because Trump is the big story today. The point is Monmouth University Poll is very reputable. Don’t shoot the messenger. I like Trump. Cruz is my guy, but Trump is doing a great service for the process. But, when it comes down to Carson and Trump..... Carson wins. Get a grip Code Toad and accept reality.

That’s okay, but just remember that when pinging someone, you also need to either refute or agree with, or even add onto something that poster has written.

The first guy I ever had a truly violent fight with was killed in Vietnam in 1970. I was 14 and he was 18 at the time of the fight. We were playing basketball at the schoolyard and he punched me right in the nose running down court. Big mistake since we were the same size but I was much stronger and quicker even with the age difference. I never forgot Chicky though and we became friends after the fight. My wife and I visit his name when we are in DC.

You’re the thin-skinned pussy; not me. You asked a question and I answered it. I just presented a fact to you and you attacked the messenger. You are still refusing to accept the truth; Carson defeats Trump in a head-to-head match-up. So, like a 4th grader you resort to name calling. But, that’s what people like you who suffer from small penis syndrome always do when you encounter a real man in person or on a forum.

Will do. My frinds name was Charles “Chicky” Ambrosio, RA. A prayer for him would be good.
