Favorite "Autumn" Songs

*Video*

Autumn Leaves - Eva Cassidy

The falling leaves
Drift by my window.
The falling leaves of red and gold.

I see your lips,
the summer kisses,
the sunburned hands I used to hold.

Since you went away
the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter song
But i miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

Since you went away
the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter song
But i miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

September Song - Sarah Vaughn

When you meet with the young men
Early in spring
They court you in song and rhyme
They woo you with songs and a clover ring

But if you examine the goods they bring
They have little to offer but the songs they sing
And a plentiful waste of time of day
A plentiful waste of time

Oh, it's a long, long while
From May to December
But the days grow short
When you reach September
And the autumn weather
Turns the leaves to flame
One hasn't got time
For the waiting game

Oh, the days dwindle down
To a precious few
September
November

And these few precious days
I'll spend with you
These precious days
I'll spend with you

Thanks Kathy!

Here’s another version, with lyrics (even the intro!) and some very nice fall pix if anyone really wants to say goodbye to summer today.

Bonus points if you spot the pic of Venice, Italy which wandered into the slideshow for no reason.

PHIL KEAGGY: Find Me in These Fields

Find me in these fields alone,
Crusted with the salt of my ways,
Rinse me with the motion of sweet water,
The silky rush of Your cleansing stream.

Turned my face towards the sun
To feel the heat and cool wind blow.
Reminding me as you touched my shoulder
Awaken me from some selfish dream.

I faced the fog in the Autumn,
The midnight moon weaving her chain.
You traced me deep in this valley
Repeating a familiar refrain, forgive me.

When my heart turned cold and I chased the old
Standard lie, forgive me.
When my conscious called me to leave it behind,
Well did I, forgive me.

Take me in I'll sit at Your feet,
Live to tell all You have done,
Could I find a rose in mid-December,
A sign of peace for those passing by.

Turned my eyes towards the Son,
A vision of a world yet to be,
When hope will be awarded living substance
And Heaven kisses Earth in reply.

I faced the fog in the Autumn,
The midnight moon weaving her chain.
You traced me deep in this valley
Repeating as familiar refrain, forgive me.

When my heart turned cold and I chased the old
Standard lie, forgive me.
When my conscious called me to leave it behind,
Well did I, forgive me.

When my heart turned cold and I chased the old
Standard lie, forgive me.
When my conscious called me to heed the cry,
Well did I, forgive me.

Forgive me...

Find me in these fields alone.

Was going to pick “See You in September”, but somebody beat me to it. So I’m going with “It Was A Very Good Year” by old Blue Eyes. It ends in Autumn.

REZ BAND: Your Love Was Right on Time

I remember when I was young
Swayed in the grass of an autumn sun
I'd feel the wind upon my face
Before it blew to another place

But I've grown older since the magic of those days
Forgotten how the breezes make the meadows play

Your love was right on time

Michel Legrande changed the time signature from Mozart's original, but you can still hear the basic thrust of the piece here. It's even in the same key: C minor.
