ASHLAND, Ky. (AP) - The latest on the county clerk in Kentucky who has refused to issue marriage licenses since the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage (all times local):
4:20 p.m.
An attorney for the couples who sued Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis over her refusal to issue marriage licenses says she "holds the keys to her jail cell."
Attorney Laura Landenwich made the comments Thursday outside the courthouse after a judge jailed Davis for contempt of court. Davis has refused to follow the judge's order to issue the licenses.
Davis' attorney Roger Gannam said that this is the first time in history that an American has been jailed for believing in their conscience.

Judge Hanen will meet with DOJ, and plantiff, lawyers to hear what punihment is appropriate for Obama lackeys who ignored a Courts ruling.
Could be interesting
Bloomberg reports that Hanen has given the opposing sides until September 4 to suggest what punishment he should impose on the Obama administration if he decides he was intentionally misled on the issuance of three-year work permits.
Congress should impeach this judge and remove him from the bench for violating his oath of supporting and protecting the Constitution. He as violated the first amendment of the Constitution.
The judge is being draconian, but he is enforcing the constitution. The USSC order or decision becomes case law. Citizens can speak out against the law all they want (speech) they can disagree with the law on religious grounds (religion), but if they don’t carry out the law, they can be fined, fired, or jailed as we are seeing. Freedom of religion or speech does not give the employee or official the right to refuse to carry out their job responsibilities.
It’s a shame their governor is a democrat and not a decent American. I’d like to see Kim Davis on their state Supreme Court, or eventually the US Supreme Court. She’s a good person with a sense of justice and an appreciation for individual freedom.
I am not currently military....or in my case, not any more. But if I were, My oath of enlistment is essentially the same as that Judge's oath, or a congressional oath and that oath tells me to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign or DOMESTIC.
The 1st, the 4th, and numerous other rights have been violated or overturned by the SCOTUS decision and someone has to stand in the breach! Not just some elected clerk in a local jurisdiction.
Not only was this judge draconian, but he has no sense of his oath or what it really means at a deeper level.
Even in the military there are procedures for disobeying a lawful order. There have been many judges who have disregarded law before, for the right reasons, and even presidents have defied SCOTUS.
If there was ever a time for a judge to use this method in spite of the consequences to his or her career, or personal wealth, it is now.
let me know when you find that judge. The feds will enforce the USSC case lawbecause it suits the administrations purpose. Let me know how you plan to stop it.
you know that not one judge required Obama to produce a birth certificate. Why do you think this will be any different?
I did not say that resistance would work effectively, but right now it’s all we have.
My solution involves lots of people, guns, pitchforks, torches and tar and feathers.
Perhaps a few hundred jackasses....
We are going to be forced to take it all down Morph...
The timing of that remains the question.
What kind of horsesh#t is this?
Kentucky law does not allow the deputy clerks to sign any marriage licenses.
This Fed judge is now making up administrative law rules?
Someone in Kentucky's State court system has to step in here.
Otherwise they can all go home and let the Feds administer the State.
Bunning is making a mockery out of this whole thing, exceeding his authority right and left.
This country belongs to us.
The government belongs to us.
The politicians, judges, and every goat stinkin government employee serves at our pleasure.
We are not pleased.
define us. Look who got elected president twice. Look at the weak kneed congress with republicans in the majority. Who do you think “us” is?
Kim Davis: Prisoner of Conscience.
Jailed for refusing a lawless order to sign fraudulent legal documents.
Well, if Gandhi had felt that way, India would still be under British rule..
Yes, I know who us is....the great unwashed and brainwashed youth for the last 50 years or so.
What you have to wait for, and it will happen soon enough, is for government to gore their ox as well. This will occur, you can count on it.
After that, as the resistance grows in a numerical sense and it becomes a threat to the status quo, they will react and they will screw it up.
You use the screw-ups to grow the movement and so on....
Read up on Gandhi and a few other revolutions, they all have similarities and are essentially both violent and nonviolent. The nonviolent groups will eventually be abused, even killed by the government and then the game is on.
That’s how you do it...It ain’t rocket science.
What do you think my hundreds of jackasses and the tar and feathers are for.....???
Might even add some dancing clowns juggling bowling pins for effect.
We won't just be getting rid of democrats..
We need to reboot the system...clear the cache, dump the OS and reinstall....saving the data of course...but not the oozing puss filled infection.
Bush appointee, figures.
That worked out real well for the 1930s Germans. Immoral law is not law. The Supreme Court can uphold immoral law all day every day it is still not law. Laws have to be moral just laws. Immoral laws are to be disobeyed.
she did her disobeying. Now she’s in the consequence phase.
