This also is the law in Kentucky
Ky. Rev. Stat. 402.020(1)(d) Marriage between members of the same sex is prohibited and void

line them all up and place in one cell!
She didn’t say that. She refused to allow anyone in the office to issue marriage licenses.
Liberals can defy so many of our laws/Constitution and avoid any consequences but yet one American stands up to the liberal establishment and she has to go to jail. The liberal establishment is acting like Nazi’s more and more each day.
Oh and FU, to the liberal media that reads here that is a big part of this mess they helped create.
If I lived closer, we’d be there protesting and supporting her. May God be with her and her loved ones.

Nice of them to try and puts to thumbscrews to her, of course, but by state law it’s not their call...of course, as I read 402.080, these dudes can’t even legally fill out the form unless one decides to go all Bruce Jenner.
Was noted, but of course that’s being ignored at the outset.
When the courts become contemptible, holding them in contempt is an exercise in patriotic, decent citizenship, not lawlessness.
I’m not 100% certain but I think she is not issuing ANY licenses.
I’m Catholic as well, and again I was purely playing devils advocate. I believe she should have resigned rather than continue to draw a paycheck and not fulfill her duties she was elected to do. I also think the way to go with this is from the standpoint of there is no law in Kentucky that she has violated and the Supreme Court has no jurisdiction over this, therefore no federal judge should be involved.
My point is she swore an oath to fulfill her duties as clerk and that oath means something as well. And I’m sure she has handed out marriage licenses to individuals living in sin. As a Catholic you know, if a person divorces and remarries they are committing adultery. If she issued them a license, she participated in that as well. She should have thought of all that before running for that office.
Again - can a county clerk who believes remarriage is adultery refuse to issue a marriage license to someone who is divorced and wants to be married?
Had the court ruled that Jews could have their property seized and be loaded onto cattle cars have you still urging her to "do her job"?
So has "do your job" now become the rebuttal to the Nazi's lament that they "were just doing their job." ?
What is the threshold for disobedience from you? What new perversion or atrocity does it take for you to say someone should refuse to "do their job"?
The government is imposing its' religious beliefs on you! Its' called secular humanism and it is a religion.
And you seem not to understand that the Natural Law trumps any Federal Law.
God burned entire cities to death because of faggotry. I think it is a little more serious of an issue than "divorce".
SCOTUS decided to invalidate the existing KY marriage laws because they say man & woman. The laws have NOT been replaced.
The county clerk, in absence of actual written and approved law, has no authority to issue any marriage license.
Ergo, she is the only clerk in KY actually following the law.
“They are due back in court at 1:45 PM Central”
Kentucky is on eastern time. They have been in their hearing for nearly an hour.
“Kentucky is on eastern time. They have been in their hearing for nearly an hour.”
Sorry - I should have said THIS PORTION of KY is on eastern time.
Just tookma look at the local Louisville Gannett rag’s website.
The Democrat statewide candidates have pretty much gone into hiding over this. The Democrat who’s Speaker of the Democrat-controlled House of Reps is BEGGING the Democrat governor to call a special session so they can put in religious protections for this clerk.
The statewide GOP candidates are all over this, claiming religious persecution.
In the meantime the same-sex marriage advocates are backpeddling in horror, stating that they didn’t want her jailed over this.
This is quickly turning into a political fiasco for the Democrats and Progressives. At least in KY.
They’ve been oppressing for a while now.
