The tragic image of a drowned toddler whose body washed up on a beach in one of Turkeys most popular resorts went viral Wednesday, underscoring the increasingly desperate plight of migrants trying to flee Africa and the Middle East in hopes of a better life in Europe.
The boy, presumed to be from Syria, was found dead Wednesday near the town of Bodrum. A Turkish police officer is shown in the image carrying the boy's body away from the waves.
At least 12 migrants, including the boy and four other children, drowned off the Turkish coast when two boats carrying them to the Greek island of Kos capsized, Turkish officials told The Associated Press.
Television images also showed the boy wearing a bright red T-shirt and shorts -- lying face down in the surf, Reuters reported.

Unfortunately, it’s not over yet.
Just wait, for the out cry to bring all these refugees here.
It would be out of compassion of course but with the convenient benefit of letting them vote.
Yes and his mom.
I trained as a recovery diver years ago. If this kid drowned it was extremely close to the beach and recent. It’s scary how soon predation happens to a body in the water.
The Koran says that Muslims are not allowed to mooch off of other Muslims, that’s why they go West, to mooch off of the Infidel.
Kind of funny how a photographer just happened upon this poor child.
Yeah, I thought his mom was also in the picture, but I could not remember any more. I was lucky to find the picture off the boy as he was laying on the beach when he was found by the Turkish official
In contemporary times, there seems to be a collective obsession for advanced countries, which worked and struggled for centuries to achieve that status, to engage in cultural and economic suicide in the name of compassion.
Spreading the disease, the filth and the misery of primitive cultures has always been an option.
The old fashioned, true and tried, in dealing with humanity by starting with family and community is about to be jettisoned. Isn't that devolution?
No individual can help others before being secure enough by helping himself. The same goes for families, communities and entire countries.
The same can be said for physical security and health. No country or small group of countries, can solve cultural imponderables.
If peoples choose not to fight for themselves, they certainly can't expect others to do it for them. Soon a world of "others" dwindles to the state of nature...
Hobbes calls it a "war of all against all, and life in the State of Nature is 'solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short."
I absolutely think that.
I agree! Stay at home and fight for what you believe. (whatever side that may be). When you choose to flee your country as a refugee you place your lives in the hands of the country you fled to. You don't get to choose what you want or where you go.
Unless of course you enter the US, then you get it all at the expense of others.
I'd give it inside of ten. Probably five now.
They going to show pictures of what aborted live fetuses look like

That’s what I was saying to gaigin - he inferred the kid was posed to invoke sympathy and I said how can you make a kid lay still with water swirling around his face if the child wasn’t dead?
The only countries that will survive are going to be those who demanded only Christians be accepted.
I hope and pray they can keep them out. It's the only shot they have.
That continent is going to erupt. It's insane how far backwards the world is moving and how quickly. Rights, customs and traditions of the west, that took thousands of years and countless lives, are just being pissed away in one generation. It's criminal.
Poor kid.
You’re right sadly.
-— For example, how many poignant pictures of one of the thousands of christian children murdered or captured and abused by muslims has anyone seen published lately. -—
Zip. Zero. Nada.
I’m even more cynical. Almost like human sacrifice for power from Molech.
indeed
