Taylor Swift's new Wildest Dreams video is criticized for being 'racist'

Taylor Swift's latest music video is being battered by critics who claim it is racist and pandering to 'rich white fantasies' from a colonial era. The video for Wildest Dreams, which was revealed during the MTV VMA Awards coverage on Sunday, has a mainly white cast and revolves around two 1950s-era movie stars - played by Swift and Gran Torino actor Scott Eastwood - filming in Africa. There are only two black actors, who play soldiers, and they appear in the background. The mock film crew are white. Director Joseph Khan insists the video is a 'love story' and has no political agenda. But music fans have rushed to Twitter to describe it as 'colonial garbage'.

Of course there will always be those on the right that object to their content whereas the left glories in the sex/drugs/rock and roll imagery. Art is and always have that. Some love/some don’t/life goes on. But now that the supposed ‘freedom’ of the left is increasingly fascist, it’s decision time.

Sex, Drugs and Rock n' Roll are great until hey become Mandatory.....

The Left will allow a Transfat LGBTA Student to use the Girl's Bathroom, but I am surprised they didn't blow a gasket that people where Smoking (gasp) in Taylor's Wildest Dreams 1930's Music Video.

Oh well, Here TADSLOS try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HL53gkCZUyk

I read your posting, it is well written and I agree with most of it. One part of your post I wanted to discuss further is the line of thought that started with "I have begun, among my white friends, to acknowledge that I am a racist. I say, “If by racist, you mean that I think there are actual differences, genetic differences, between racial groups that have real consequences, then yes I am a racist."

I have a slightly different take on that. I look at "racism" by the term we used to use of "racial discrimination". We used to call racism "discrimination", a few years ago racism against white people was called by that idiot term; "reverse discrimination".

Discrimination is recognizing of the difference between one thing and another to make a decision. A wine connoisseur has "discriminating taste" to decide what he thinks about different wines.

Making a decision based on race is racial discrimination. If one hires or not hires someone for a job based on race, that is racial discrimination or racism. Affirmative Action is racial discrimination or racism. If some voted AGAINST obama because of his race, that is racial discrimination or racism. If some voted FOR obama because of his race, that is racial discrimination or racism. It is a decision based on race, it is racial discrimination or racism.

In today's liberal society color of skin matters, not content of character. You can burn down a city, openly call for murder, engage in violent behavior, rob a store and get shot attacking a police officer if your color of skin is a certain category, and content of character is excused. This is what happens when you make decisions; such as deciding if rioting and looting is wrong or not, is based on race and not behavior.

Making a decision based on race (racial discrimination / racism) is the new PC conventional wisdom. No mature adult in a position of authority would say they support voter fraud, but if you say it is a decision based on race, then racism becomes more important than doing what is right. No one would say robbing a store then attacking a police officer and try to take his gun is the right thing to do, but racism (making a moral decision based solely on race)is more important. Same with burning down part of a city.

People like yeb bush have to know that supporting this 3rd world civilian invasion will destroy society, but if you make the decision based on race.... PC culture demands supporting minority races is more important than laws, safety, health, the economy, freedom, the Constitution and even life itself.

It is PC culture to self destruct in the name of making decisions based on race. Affirmative action, illegal alien amnesty, public safety, minority loans, college tuition, welfare, healthcare, public safety / law enforcement voting right (etc etc) is becoming more and more racial. Decisions on how these are regulated are based on insane racist motivations and not common sense.

Now people are expected to make decisions based on race (racial discrimination), and if they don't they are considered racist. That is insane, but true. The Tea Party mission statement is mostly about economic issues and limiting size of government. They don't have positions based on race therefore the PC culture calls them racist.

For these reasons and many more, liberal idiots that call people "racists" means nothing to me. They call people making decisions on principle, content of character, rule of law, and liberty for all Americans without racial considerations "racist". Judge someone on content of character and not color of skin... is racist under more and more circumstances.

The liberals use the petty insult of calling someone racist because one may disagree with a liberal stance promoted by a minority or disagree with holding a minority group accountable to the law. Against a massive foreign civilian invasion that violates immigration laws? Against leftist communist policies from this administration? Against thugs looting, burning and attacking Peace Officers? Racist? please.... that insult now longer has any meaning at all. It carries as much punch as saying "your grandmother wears army boots". The only people scared of that meaningless term now are white politicians.

Anyway, that's my 2¢

I agree with what you wrote. “Racism” is a nebulous term which means more than one thing. Noticing racial differences is considered racism as well as Whites not bending over in response to demands by racial “minorities” (soon to be majorities).

I very effectively shut-down a “conversation” with a “progressive” the other day who was complaining about “racism” by pointing out to them that 85% of the world are “people of color” and that these discussions of race only happen in the few remaining majority white areas of the world.

They disputed the numbers, saying whites are a majority and hold all the power all over the world. Which was complete BS and they knew it. North America, Europe, Aus/NZ ... that’s it for where whites are a majority, and those places are the ONLY places that have net positive immigration from the 85% of the world that isn’t white. All the non-white refugees, “migrants”, whatever, are trying to get into white countries by leaving non-white countries, all the while calling us racists for being reluctant to allow unfettered “immigration”.

Most everyone I know is sick to death of the dialogue on race. They know it is twisted, up-side-down BS.

Dialogue?!?!?! It's a Lecture.

The one comment from a PC policewoman I heard that was revealing was that she said Taylor must be more politically “aware”, meaning politically correct.

Even these progressive Leftists know how distasteful political correctness is and how most Americans are sick of it, hence the word change to hide the real meaning.

You are right, it is a lecture, at least when it is coming from Obama and other race-baiters. But I don’t stand for lectures. If someone wants to have a discussion, that’s fine, but the moment they take that self-superior tone and start the “all whites are ... “ nonsense, the lecture ends, and the dialogue (or battle) begins.

It is amusing to see people with nothing between their ears but air coming up with a thought. And it is usually, “That’s racist.”

I don’t see anything wrong with this video or the song. Not one thing.

And don’t anyone preach to me about diversity until someone does a movie with MLK Jr. played by a white guy.
