Long before the Republican presidential candidate became a presidential candidate or a Republican, Donald Trump had a working relationship with Al Sharpton, including doing favors for the racial activist and giving him thousands in donations.

I think I somehow touched a nerve here tonight.

Three of you have sent me videos spontaneously. Perhaps we need a YouTube music thread one nigh a week, to share our favorites.

Thanks for your contribution. Very good.

When you can come to grips with Trump’s platform and tell me what other candidate has presented one like it or better, we’ll talk.

You don’t even know Ted Cruz’s “platform”.. OR you wouldn’t say that..
Ted had his/this platform before Trump even became a faux republican..

Cruz is a small federal givernment republican, TRUMP is a large federal givernment republican..
and Trump is also for big state givernment and big local givernment..

He’s just a BIG givernment GUY...
You know like Boehner, McConnell, Obama, Pelosi and Reid.. to name a few...

To do most of what Trump wants to do the way he wants to do it takes BIG GIVERNMENT.. more Taxes, some Tariffs(more taxes) and taxes raised on pretty much everyone by the time it’s over..

he WALKS like liberal, TALKS like a liberal, JOKES like a liberal.. and he is pretty much your complete ULTRA-liberal...

What was that again about TRUMP being a conservative..
Tell me again.. I want to see you say it.. for the record..

Jeese it’s like Kindergarten around here these days..

It’s only a little matter of passion... we can safely ignore that. Let’s once more vie for milquetoast purity and get nothing done.

Sorry. I missed this earlier and just stumbled across it.

I wouldn’t disagree with this, because I think it’s pretty obvious.

As a nation we’ve gotten ourselves in this mess, and I can’t deny it looks like Divine intervention is the only way back.

The question is, would we even recognize divine intervention if it walked up to us and bit us on the schnoz?

Divine intervention would not look like the final success of the schemes of men, that is for blessed sure.

If one had asked Donald Trump even a few years ago whether he would be viewed as the champion of “right wing politics” he would have laughed at you.

And yet politics makes strange bedfellows.

I see his liberal side as more reflexive, his conservative side as more passionate. I would be far more surprised NOT to see Trump changed by the experience, than the opposite.

One party rule?

We hit that point awhile back.

Sorry, but that’s the way it is.

Each new grotesquerie by Trump energizes his supporters to excuse it often with the argument of electability. Others argue that he will be effective in governance and compare him to Rinos but rarely compare him to Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz has proven his constitutional bona fides he proved it on his feet all night long in front of the Senate and in front of millions of Americans that he will fight the fight. We have every reason to believe that Cruz will fight on behalf of consistent conservative principles. We have no reason to believe that Trump will have any consistent conservative philosophy even if elected. His biography screams otherwise, that he will govern ad hoc as an ego trip.

There is one issue on which Trump has a slight edge, that issue is more than dominant it is decisive: immigration.

If immigration continues, even without amnesty, the Republicans will not win another election in my lifetime and probably for a whole generation after that. That is because the Democrats, facilitated often by the courts, are jiggering the election laws and furnishing illegal immigrants with drivers licenses with which they will gain entry into the polling booths. That is going on without amnesty, with amnesty there simply is no hope.

No hope for the country, not just for a conservative country but no hope for a nation that resembles a nation in which I grew up or a nation which is not simply absorbed into a polyglot, amorphous global village very likely severely regimented and certainly much poorer. We might become Muslim, we might become the victims of the Chinese, we might find ourselves regimented by the environmentalists, or a new force might emerge but one thing is clear, an America faithful to the Bill of Rights and to its Constitution will simply not survive. Without a check on immigration there can be no effective national defense, no hope of bringing the budget under control to avoid a calamity, no national consensus to oppose radical Islam or aggressive Chinese expansionism. There will be no sense of nation.

I give Trump the edge on immigration over Ted Cruz, but just a small edge because Trump can't be trusted, Trump is not motivated by conservative values, he will not seek to curb immigration to protect conservatism or even to protect the Constitution, he will do it because he thinks it makes economic sense. If we have to choose between the two, I believe Cruz will fight to protect the Constitution. But Cruz is not right on the visas and he has not been strong enough on deportation.

I do not fault people for choosing Trump for his stance on immigration (although I do believe they are engaging in a lot of wishful thinking concerning his stance), I do fault conservatives who are willfully blind to the man's failings.

He’s not hewing to anyone’s orthodox agenda, although still the passion appears to be directed much more rightward at this point.

Even economic sense can be a powerful lever to the good if it is accompanied by good reason.

-----------------------------------------------------

"milquetoast purity" obviously you've never heard Cruz speak...
He wants to give Washington D.C. an ENEMA.. (paraphrased)

I mean make the City conform to the Constitution.. Not only D.C. but the entire United States..

And to process a few people thru a Real Justice Department.. to get their JUSTICE... He is serious as a heart attack..

TRUMP wants hit the old corrupt dying Washington D.C. with a Defibrillator and bring it back to life.. with a few adjustments and make it work again...

The question IS; What changed.. answer; NOTHING.. The crony's are still cronying.. K Street is still conniveing.. The Congress will embrace the "connive"..

What Cruz wants is to reduce the conniving TO PRISON.. They can connive all they want in prison.. Who cares.. PROBLEM IS: Trump would lose many of his friends maybe some family.. AND if Trump get investigated.. HIMSELF might be dodging the slammer.. you know in Geneva.. or Pitcairn Island or somewhere..

TRUMP absolutely CANNOT HAVE THAT.. running for President as a Conservative is serious business to Trump..

Know what I mean?.. Cruz don't play that..

How is it that Trump has outshadowed Cruz and not by just a LITTLE bit. Results speak. I think you are listening to the amens in your head, not the agreements in the public.

NONE of those that support Cruz have been polled..
he gets little action on TV...

Most only know what they see on TV.. currently..
election is too far away for them to even care..

To clarify even further, he has failed to raise any kind of public enthusiasm, which makes the effect milquetoast no matter WHAT his theoretical ultimate plans may be.

Also Cruz purists have consistently failed to see the willing synergy between Cruz and Trump. Cruz sees a rising star that can carry some, if not all, the important desiderata of the day, and selflessly considers getting the idea accepted more important than getting himself accepted.
