Five Chinese navy ships are currently operating in the Bering Sea, off the coast of Alaska, the first time the U.S. military has seen such activity in the area, Pentagon officials said Wednesday.

Russia and China had joint naval exercises off of Siberia last week and the completed earlier this week. Five of the Chinese ships, a destroyer, two frigates, an amphibious ship, and a replenishment tanker left those exercises and proceeded north to the Bearing Strait.
Their Navy is growing rapidly and is mostly brand new (5-10 years old), and they are stretching their sea legs a bit...timed for Obama’s visit to Alaska I am sure.

Way back when we had the Matrix going hot and heavy most said then to keep an eye on Russia and China because they were even then getting very cozy. I do wonder how many “events” are happening that the two aren’t very much together on...certainly aware I would imagine.
Last year September 19, ‘2014’...Russian strategic nuclear bombers carried out air defense zone incursions near Alaska... flew within 63 miles of the Alaskan coast and 46 miles of the Canadian coastline,.... including two Bear H nuclear bombers, two MiG-31 fighter jets and two IL-78 refueling tankers were intercepted by F-22 fighters......Two other Bears were intercepted by Canadian jets the next day.
