Rand Paul: Donald Trump setting GOP up for worst defeat since 1964
Boston Herald ^ | Monday, August 31, 2015 | Chris Villani

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (AP)— a Republican candidate for president — today warned his party risks its worst electoral beating since 1964 if frontrunner Donald Trump wins the GOP nomination.

“It would probably be the worst defeat we’ve had since (Barry) Goldwater, I’d predict, if Trump where the nominee,” Paul said in a Boston Herald Radio “Morning Meeting” interview, referring to the 1964 race during which the Republican from Arizona carried only six states against Lyndon B. Johnson.

A recent Quinnipiac national poll showed Trump lapping the field with 28 percent of those surveyed saying they support him. Paul, who entered the race with a strong following of libertarians and conservatives, languished towards the back of the pack with 2 percent of the survey. ...

Paul’s feud with the frontrunner began at the first Republican primary debate when Trump said he would not rule out running as a third-party candidate.

“That really ticked me off,” Paul said. “I have nothing against people running as a third party. I do have a problem with people being dishonest and using the Republicans to get a lot of attention and then running as a third party.”

The decline and dissolution of the Republican Party? Is there bad news here? No McConnell, Boehner, McCain, Bushes.

There’s nothing four years of Hillary can do that wasn’t already done by Obama.

We can use the four years to form a new party, with numbers swollen by working class former Democrats who see what total democrat control can do to wreck their lives.

I think the worst defeat since 1964 would only happen if the GOP ran somebody like Rand Paul or Lindsay Graham.

Irrelevant Rand. I never seen a potential “legitimate” candidate fall so far so fast.

How much you weigh, son?

Rand - both you and your whack job of a daddy can go take a long walk off a short dock. Freaking Libertarian loser. You bastards never capture more than 5 percent of the vote - and, more often than not, your running leads to defeat. So, you pretentious, self-important, pompous, egotistical, deluded knuckle-dragging libertarian twit ... PLEASE STFU!

You are at the bottom of the barrel! If you were any lower, you’d be polling NEGATIVE!

NOBODY gives a rat’s tail about what you, or your obnoxious daddy, think!

LOL! Where did I see that today?

OH, I know, I said it something like this.
"hosepipe
Jorge Ramos.
Birds of a feather or Jorge wannabe".

Prove it..
How about the Cruz crowd sizes as big as Trump's. What was the name of the stadium where Cruz addressed 30,000+/-?

BTW , has anyone ever taught you there in your first grade class when to use or not use caps? And I'm not talking about when you're yelling

Trump may get the nomination, in spite of the GOPe’s worst efforts. If so, prepare for a Christine O’Donnell on a national scale. GOPe will vote Democrat; media will be increasingly hostile to Trump; supporters will be threatened, etc.

There will be NO holding of noses.

Given that Trump is leading or tied with Hillary in most polls I’d say it’s a helluva lot more than “cranky old guy” support. Trump leads all GOP in young, women and conservatives, ad well as, in 2 statute polls, Hispanics.

Frankly, I think the GOPe elite are going to find out that their ranks are nowhere as strong as they think. Many of us who work to get Republicans elected and belong to various Republican committees and groups are BEYOND FED UP with the Negative Results of our efforts over the last several years. The Republican Establishment is already seeing a revolt by way of resignations from memberships, drops in contributions, etc. The little people are the ones who do the REAL work and we are tired of being used. This is a major reason for the Republican E’s panic. They see what is happening in the support of Trump, and they CAN NOT STOP IT. The establishment is being thrown out. We will take a less than perfect person who has the guts to fight and is opposed to the way things are being handled in Washington, over just another member of the Boehner-McConnell Gang. WARTS and ALL!

“He has been a proponent of using eminent domain to take property from small property owners and use it to make business and make money for himself,” Paul said. “There was a case of a woman who had lived in a house for 30 years. He built a casino next door and when she wouldn’t sell, he used the government to take it from her.”

That is a misstatement of fact, Mr. Paul.

While Trump did try to take the property, he never succeeded.

The owner, Vera Coking, eventually moved out and into a retirement home in 2010, and the property was sold at auction in 2014 for a fraction of what Trump had offered her. She eventually occupied that property for almost 50 years.

And since I will be flamed for pointing out Pauls' misstatement (or lie, if you prefer), the record will show that I have posted comments on FR previously in opposition to Trump's use of eminent domain in this case.

Interesting that membership is dwindling. I got out the first Boehner and McConnell betrayal. I MAY vote Republican (Trump or Cruz) or I MAY stay home (Jeb or another RINO).

Another RINO will be defeated badly and the GOP is done. They will lose the House AND the Senate and disappear.

“Paul’s feud with the frontrunner began at the first Republican primary debate when Trump said he would not rule out running as a third-party candidate.”

Question for all Republican candidates (presidential or other): If Donald Trump is the nominee, will you pledge to support him?
