A large part of Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trumps stance on immigration involves building a wall along the southern U.S. border a wall the real estate tycoon insists will be paid for by Mexico.
But not so fast says GOP rival Jeb Bush.
The former governor of Florida said over the weekend Trump is promising to build a wall that cant be built, the Washington Examiner reported.
Its a determination Bush said he made after talking to mayors and law enforcement on the Texas-Mexico border, who he said told him a wall cant be built because of the rugged terrain.

The Wall was promised in the 1980’s
The Wall is the only true shovel ready job since 2009
Mr. Bush,
You will learn that YOU DO NOT TELL AMERICANS WHAT THEY CANNOT DO.
That is all.

He lives in Miami which has sound barrier walls all over the place ... picture at link is around airport area and the wall is 34’
Jeb is (once again) entirely wrong.
You don’t have to have fencing on every mile of the border for walls/fencing to be effective. Barriers along the most heavily trafficked routes will cut those routes off, reducing the flow of illegal aliens. Fencing and walls can also be used to create choke points, forcing the Coyote traffickers into narrow access points where border agents can more easily intercept them. That’s a tactic that’s worked for thousands of years.
I also disagree that it would have to cost a trillion dollars or whatever other hooey his pitching. If securing fencing ended up costing $10 million per mile, which would be an astoundingly high figure, then 2000 miles of fencing (and we wouldn’t need that much) would run around $20 billion, if my math is correct. Still a bargain compared to what illegal immigration is costing. I’d even argue we could add things like manned outposts and expanding the fleet of off-road vehicles to cover the rugged areas without approaching anything like the numbers Jeb is spouting.
Just further proof Jeb will say and do anything to prevent amnesty from being stopped. Ask the idiot how the foundation of a house is built on unlevel land and how that is any different in building a foundation for a wall?
Hey, he stole my tag line.
obama to Trump: “You didn’t build that”
1,000?
10,000?
100,000?
Trump to Obama, "Go F yourself faggot."
Yeb is the stupid, weakling runt of the litter.
Whoa, dude, don’t blow a gasket on me! :-)
I was just referring to what Mark Levin was pointing out the other night from (IIRC) a David Horowitz article. As little as 20 miles of fencing in the San Diego area reduced illegal traffic to that sector over 90%, for example. Horowitz argues that about 700 miles of double-layer fencing with “security zones” would bring the flow of illegals to a near standstill.
Sure, a Great Wall covering ever inch of the border would be best. But cutting off access to major routes across several hundred miles of easy terrain with double layer security fencing isn’t a bad thing.
Yes it is a bad thing. A very bad thing.
It’s pissing on Americans.
We deserve a WALL, not some flimsy excuse.
People who argue that some sort of ‘fence’ is good enough are totally out of touch with Americans who have to deal with illegals.
TOTALLY OUT OF TOUCH.
This is to replace my post #46 which called you to task in the strongest possible terms for posting such trip as “You dont have to have fencing on every mile of the border for walls/fencing to be effective”.
Your post reeks GOPe patronizing.
You are so out of touch with mainstream Americans it stinks.
We have waited impatiently for 30 years to have to have The Wall built.
Time after time your ilk patted us on the head and promised us a wall.
Now we have a man, a real man, who is going to push the little worms aside and build a wall.
GO POUND SAND, and take you obscene words and stuff them.
Hungary built a border wall. 175km in months. HUNGARY!!
And its got the EU Bosses with their panties all in a twist.

So, I’m guessing I’m not invited to the cookout on Saturday?
Also, Mark Levin and David Horowitz are part of the GOPe? Huh, that’s a new one on me.
Kthxbye.
Yeah, well I can’t jump on them, so I’m telling you to GO POUND SAND for promoting their stupid idea.
How’s that?
Not to mention the Line of Control in Kashmir, a 340 mile long double fenced barrier in terrain far more rugged than anything near the US Mexican border.
So, my saying that GOPe candidate Jeb is wrong, and that we can build a wall for far less than a trillion dollars, including adding personnel, outposts, and patrol vehicles and then adding a minor aside that even a partial wall would vastly improve our security, while not at all dismissing the superiority of wall/fence along the entire boarder, is somehow supporting the GOPe candidate?
Uh, okayyy....
BTW, you *did* know that the Great Wall of China started off as just that, a series of lesser walls on key invasion routes? Guess those Qin Dynasty guys were RINOs!
And, uh, just for the record, I’ve never patted anyone on the head. Unless you count the Yorkie I had as a little kid. He was a great dog, btw. Never once told me to pound sand or engaged in an unhinged rant at me based on a complete misrepresentation of something I wrote.
