Real estate magnate Trump has spent weeks dominating the Republican field, and has emerged as a credible White House candidate for many voters in Iowa, the first crucible of the 2016 nominating contest.
But with Carson’s stellar showing in a series of recent polls in Iowa and nationwide, and another survey showing Senator Bernie Sanders nipping at Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton’s heels, the second-place candidates are exhibiting considerable power on the campaign trail.

I love Dr. Carson but even with his intellect, he can’t get the financials nailed down overnight.
He talked about doing away with the Veteran’s Administration, putting it under DOD. That’s hospital budget crap. I worked for a hospital and they make the most outrageous cuts.
Trump is doing harm to GOPe. That is why he must be destroyed. Keep in mind Trump is 10 times as tough as Carson, so Carson will be easier to destroy in due time. All they need is to find their Anita Hill to come forward.
And although I like Carson personally, he is incredibly gaffe-prone. His "plan" to roll the VA into the DoD that we saw this morning is absolutely ridiculous, for example. Carson also has said some very distrubing things about amnesty, which will soon get more exposure.
If Ben Carson can bring down the almighty, phenomenal Donald Trump, why couldn’t he also bring down the increasingly weak, scandal-ridden Hillary Clinton?
Carson/Fiorina — because they know how to rise in the polls, even without publicly attacking everyone who doesn’t agree with them and also without the media covering them 24/7

I would hate it if Trump pounced on Carson. I’m not sure I could support Trump if he did that. Carson is not an insider - he is a healer.

Oh look, the DNC hacks at Business Insider want to gin up a fight between Trump and Carson. They just can’t wait to play a race card on Trump, too. This would so play into Hillary’s hand.

Someone has to stand up against the GOPe.
Not likely, he has zero chance of getting the nomination or stopping Trump. His only qualification is he isn’t a politician. Can anyone seriously see him as president? He has no relevant experience.
I sort of agree. But I also think that letting Carson cruise to the top without challenging his credentials would also be wrong. Carson has a lot going and I love him but he would have never called out illegals like Trump has. He doesn't have the financial background Trump has. Granted, he's nicer but is that what we need?
Yeah, I agree. Trump is the guy we need to point out the drug dealers and rapists from south of the border. I have a hard time picturing Dr Carson trying to get the wall built with the GOPe and Dems locked hand and hand against him. We need a fighter.
Sundance over at Conservative Treehouse predicted this over the weekend. The direct approach of attacking Trump hasn’t worked so now you’ll start hearing about how the next-best “non-establishment” candidate. I guess they chose Carson over Fiorina.

He’s done a lot to harm the GOPe and their power brokers. That’s the reason they need him stopped. Nothing more, nothing less.

Lynnette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson would be great as President Trumps Co-Press Secretaries.
Doc Carson would suggest that Hot Dog is mentally ill, and would suggest a couple of his colleagues who specialize in sexual deviancy treatment.
None of us know who is behind Ben, but someone/group is and he isn't strong enough to stand up to them, nor the GOP-E! He has been flattered and cossetted, and who knows what secrets lie in his closet?
Then there is his gun-grabbing ideas, lack of knowledge about everything a president needs to know, and his lack of stated stances on very real problems.
