~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Naval Submarine Base New London, Connecticut Naval Submarine Base New London is the United States Navy's primary East Coast submarine base, also known as the "Home of the Submarine Force". It is located in Groton, Connecticut. It is home port to 15 attack submarines and a major submarine construction yard. Naval Submarine Base New London stretches along the east side of the Thames River, straddling the communities of Groton and Ledyard. While Groton is often referred to as the Submarine Capital of the World, the Base proudly bears the title - Home of the Submarine Force. Almost every submariner in todays Navy will be stationed here for training. A tour of duty in one of the fast-attack submarines home ported here or with a pre-commissioning crew for a new submarine under construction at General Dynamics Electric Boat Shipyard in Groton may follow. Occupying more than 680 acres, with more than 160 major facilities and 15 nuclear submarines, Naval Submarine Base New London supports fleet readiness by providing quality service and facilities to our Fleet, Fighters, and Families. The Base mission is twofold: to homeport and put Submarines to sea; and to support the Submarine Center of Excellence that trains Sailors to take Submarines to sea.
Naval Submarine Base New London is also home to more than 70 tenant commands and activities including Commander Submarine Group Two; the Submarine Learning Center; Naval Submarine School; the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory; and, the Naval Undersea Medical Institute.

I was stationed in New London on the USS Jallao (SS368) in 1963.
= = = = = = = = =
Started school in Jun 62 as RM2, blew up head in the 105’ free ascent tank.
I popped my sinuses on way down and bled from everywhere, I was first in line and they wouldn’t let me out.
Had to ride that ‘elevator’ back up - the decom was like having skin ‘sucked off’ (or something like that).
That washed me out and went on Base MAA Force, living in Brig and transporting prisoners to Portsmouth NH, ‘mental’ dropouts to LI and generally play ‘traffic cop (Pedestrian) till my orders to the Pentagon came through....UGH>..
Was lucky in a way, I knew of a few that were on the Thresher Boat that were in my class, so.....I maybe got REAL lucky....

Howdy, EGC! (((hugs)))
All is well....it usually is on my day off, even if I have housework to do. :)
How are you and Bo doing? Any romps at the lake lately? Does it continue to be cooler there? It sort of is here...low/mid 90s instead of triple digits. I can deal with that! :)

Well, this morning I had to do a hard reboot on the Windows 7 computer.
There was an update that for whatever reason took 2 days to update. When I rebooted the computer to try to get the update installed I waited about 30 or so minutes until I finally gave up.
I think This might have been the upgrade to Windows 10 that they wanted to do.
I changed the update procedure in Windows Update to "Download updates but let Me determine whether to install them" That took care of the gold thing with the exclamation point in the shut down box.
We'll see how this all works out.
Also I'm having my roof repaired tomorrow. It's leaking in some areas on the porch. The roofing man is going to fix it tomorrow. They brought the stuff out this morning.
