Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Monday accused Colombias government of giving its consent to a plan to assassinate him as both countries try to rally regional support in a border dispute exacerbating tensions between the two neighbors.
Maduro said during a visit to Vietnam that the conspiracy has the consent of Colombias government. Maduro, who frequently accuses Colombia of trying to topple his government, didnt present any details or evidence to back the claim but said he would soon. Officials in Bogotá didnt immediately respond.
The presidents remarks come as diplomats from 34 Western Hemisphere nations gather at the Organization of American States in Washington for an emergency meeting to discuss the crisis that has already led to the closure of six border crossings and created a humanitarian crisis as some 10,000 Colombians who had been living illegally in Venezuela flee a crackdown on crime and smuggling.
Maduro has said the offensive is necessary to attack criminal gangs that purchase gas and other goods sold at subsidized prices in Venezuela and resell them across the border for huge profits.

I figured Maduro would try to get into a war with Colombia as his economy is falling apart.
I hope so!
Yep
They are prolly sick of all the Venezuelans escaping to Colombia,....
Things are bad when you are escaping TO Colombia!
Well he won’t like the result, Colombia would kick their ass in about three days.
You are second person saying that
Even Al Jazeera America saying that right now
I hope not. I have friends in Colombia, and I don’t want them, their families, their property, or communities harmed.
Venezuela is turning into a regional threat. Just screwing over their own citizens, is never enough for communists.
The third world is a freakin’ zoo. Please stop trying to bring it here through immigration.
More braying from Mad Burro
They sure would.
I believe a good many Venezuelans are pulling for Colombia.
Agreed and agreed
It’s about time.
I suspect that once the Generals sense Maduro is going to go to war, that’s when you’ll see the coup.
Venezuela is probably what used to be called “second world”, having a certain level of modernization and a totalitarian socialist regime. Of course, nowadays the terms are “developed” and “developing”, trying to make socialism seem normal.
That big, mustachioed stump should look in the mirror to find the source of Venezuela’s problems.
True. I’ve always thought calling a nation “developing” is awfully presumptuous — there’s a whole lot of stagnation and regression going on.
Agreed
