In an effort to inject a little levity into what is going to be a very long Republican presidential nominating contest, I invented something I call "the Ben Carson Line."
It's from what is known as "the Mendoza Line" in baseball, which is the lowest batting average an infielder can have and still stay in the big leagues.
In this case the barometer is set to Ben Carson, the African-American surgeon who usually ends up at around 10 percent in the polls even though he has little realistic chance of winning.
Until recently, Jeb Bush was well ahead of that line. He was the consensus front-runner and everyone else trailed behind.
No more. The latest RealClearPolitics average of 2016 Republican presidential polls has some bad news for Bush. He's trailing Carson by half a point, 10.3 percent to 9.8 percent.
That's bad enough. Even worse is the latest poll. Quinnipiac has Bush way down at 7 percent with Donald Trump scoring four times that percentage at 28.
Calling John Kasich.
That's what I expect the Republican establishment to do in the near future.
The money people made a bad mistake when they assumed they could get yet another Bush past Republican voters.

JOB ONE! here should be the defeat of Senor Jebito’s candidacy long before the Convention!!!!!!!!
Dare we dream of a President Carson?
LOL!
It’ll be funny up to the point when Jeb become the nominee. Then, of course, we’ll just have to vote for him because of the Supreme Court, Hillary is so much worse, etc.
Looking forward to Jeb saying, “Screw you guys. I’m going home.”
That term was "back marker".
In motorcycle racing the back marker is the last bike on the first lap. Everyone behind him is a lap back. It's extremely unlikely the back marker will win, and almost inconceivable someone a lap back will. (There are only about 25 laps in most motorcycle races.)
Herman Cain.
Carson May be a nice guy but not presidential...in the meantime I’m enjoying Bush fall away!!!!
Forget the Carson Line - he’s been polling pretty well consistently - watch the Fiorina Line - she’s coming up fast and Jeb is below her in the latest Iowa poll - the race is to see if CNN can keep her off the stage in the next debate with their sinister but silly poll-weightings which include the by now well outdated results from a number of the earliest polls taken - which the weak-kneed RNC actually agreed to honor - libs are scared to death of having the general public see a group of Republican front-runners which includes both a Black and a Woman - there would go two of their oldest and most trite anti-Republican talking points.....
I guess the GOPe keeps saying Carson has little chance of winning because they are afraid of him.
