Why Trump?
1. Illegal immigration is the only issue; if it's not stopped soon, America will become like California -- a demographic one-party state.
2. Politics is about name-recognition and none of the other candidates besides Trump has the name recognition to challenge Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton.
Therefore, Trump is the only candidate with a chance to win who has promised to do the only thing that matters.
I’m not a tailor if that’s what you’re getting at.
Sorry, went to sleep.
Haha. At least I’m not posting idiotic twaddle like the quote I cited you for.
Btw, you don’t seriously believe what you posted, do you? Because surely no adult who has spent more than five minutes discussing this issue could possibly believe what you wrote.
Yeah all we have is a promise. It’s more than we have from Jeb and Hillary.
An exceptionally poignant post!
And I would have skipped over it Gwen if you hadn’t remarked on it.
Thank you both.
It’s a question of reclaiming the country—what’s left of it—or losing it irrevocably. It is an absolute question of survival. If the country continues its death spiral much longer, those other issues you listed will be moot.
A new Congress comes in after the 2016 elections so a new Speaker of the House and a new Republican leader will be elected. Hopefully the same old same olds will not get elected again.
If you think the Republican Party or conservatism or liberty has any sort of chance in an environment where the entire country has California’s demographics, then sure, it’s not the only issue.
Pre-Trump I would have put $ that Boehner and McConnell would maintain their joint death grips on power. Post-Trump, the rank and file might just be too scared to keep on betraying the base wholesale.
Of course that is the federal government's role.
But, unless you understand why both Republicans and Democrats want illegal immigration, you will not stop it.
One of the main drivers of demand for illegal trespassers is crony capitalism.
Agree?
Now, if you want to end the DEMAND for illegal trespassers, you need to do more than build a wall, etc.
Those are good things, but not enough. Like drugs....if you don't stop the demand, the flow will continue.
Now, my question is this: If crony capitalism is one of the main drivers in the demand for illegal trespassers, how do you stop that? By electing a man who made his fortune via crony capitalism?
Fill it up with Ethel there Cleetus.... :-)
The single most important issue is the makeup of the Federal Judiciary.
Nothing else even comes close. If Trump is inclined to appoint jurists like his sister (who he has praised) to replace the likes of Scalia and Kennedy, then it’s game over for any sort of Conservative policy agenda.
For example, what can a President Trump really do on immigration if a Liberal dominated Supreme Court rules that illegals have a right to be here? If after a certain time they have a right to LPR status? If after a certain time they have a right to citizenship.
What can a President Trump really do if a Liberal dominated Supreme Court rules that healthcare is a right and that Obamacare can’t be rescinded?
And so on.
I like Trump. I like what he’s doing right now. I may vote for him in the primary and I’ll certainly vote for him in the general if he’s the nominee.
But I’m also going to acknowlege that given his past stances, donation history and verbal support for various candidates and causes he’s certainly the most risky candidate of the GOP field.
After the left gets 60 to 120 million new Marxist voters that do you think will happen to
The Constitution
Religious liberty
Federal overreach
state sovereignty
The 2nd amendmen
and right to life
without immigration reform everything you listed and much more is toast.
You began a very interesting and obviously ‘hot topic’ thread.
Good job!
Thank-YOU! :)
Yes, the demographics are bad and getting worse. But that’s only part of the reason regaining control of our borders/recovering our sovereignty is vital above all else. The worst of it is the abject, ubiquitous, run amok LAWLESSNESS. That is the underlying state of affairs when the borders are intentionally flung wide open, foreign invaders are WELCOMED in, and then are immediately accorded greater rights, privileges and benefits than citizens.
Think about it. Government is supposed to safeguard law abiding citizens and punish criminals. Right now the US gov rewards criminals and punishes law abiding citizens. How is this not the number one crisis? Or put another way, how is this sustainable?
Severe, lasting damage has already taken a monumental toll. How much more of the same do the, ‘it’s just one of many issues’ people imagine the country can survive?
+1
I think its time for a lot of FReepers to face the fact that they’re “moderates” at best and progressives at worst.
I will never EVER vote for the progressive Donald Trump. If that means the democrats win then conservatives will return to standing and fighting for conservatism or will remain on our knees as subservient to progressivism.
All I know is that it is one issue I will answer may maker proudly about.
Well, that big red mush of his (shades of orange) tends to let me think he has high blood pressure. But who really knows? I’m just going on appearance. He is kind of chubby, though.
