Also the debit card being rejected points to someone who doesn't keep track of money and money out in a checking account. Extreme embarrassment, frustration and aggressive behavior added to not being on top of household finances does sound as though the general has some sort of dementia problem. I note it is mentioned he has an ‘assistant’ which may mean a home health aide. Unfortunate case and I expect the DA will make it go away after an apology from the general,
The story says he tried to pay with a credit card that was declined. He then tried to pay by check, but the driver said checks are not accepted by the restaurant.
Fighting with police is also a big no-no. I have respect for his service, but I would advise him to apologize to all involved, and meekly accept the legal consequences of his behavior.
Perhaps the judge will grant him leniency.
I'm a food delivery driver, and if any customer did that to me the police would not be his problem.
That said, don't hand over the food until payment is made, until then it stays in the hot bag. (Exception for regular customers who are know well as decent human beings.)
Sounds like he doesn’t like people playing games with him.
Perhaps he shouldn’t have reacted physically, but lacking a video of the event, perhaps he had good reason.

LOL!!!!
Uber and out. I hear ya.
What was it they used to do with Roman Generals when they were given their victory parade? Didn't they put a slave in the Chariot whispering into their ear "Sic Transit Gloria Mundi" or something?
I think the Romans may have had the right idea.
Guilt issues?
Is that really the word you wanted to use?

Sounds like the General has a touch of Alzheimers, or some form of dementia. Age almost doesn’t matter, when someone is truly angry. My dad was about 86, and while recovering from a surgery, he became physically abusive to the nurse’s aides. He was so abusive, they had to strap him down to the bed from time to time. It was a shock for the family to hear how his condition has deteriorated so quickly. He’s at peace now.
I'm not apologizing for either side, but I haven't heard yet what the driver's words were or what HE said and did.
The driver had facial hair .... was he middle eastern LOOKING ?
If I thought a muzzie was making snide comments while in my presence, I too, might be tempted to jack him up
For troops lost under his command.. He was trained as a psychologist.
I agree also. I am going to give a man who gave so much in service to his country the benefit of a doubt. As far as I’m concerned, he went to the wall for me and I think a little forbearance for him when he has reached the age of 80 is the least I can to repay him.

Gots ta respek da man yah know!
With a grandson who delivers for a restaurant, how simple might this have been, once the check was offered, for the delivery person to have called the owner/manager, indicated that an elderly retired military person wished to proffer a check, and let the manager handle it?
“...a portion of Highway 314 in Fayetteville, Georgia was renamed as the “General Bill Livsey Highway”
Now that portion of the road is going to have to be
renamed again.
Bill Livsey Highway to
Bill me Later if you want to Livsey Highway.
During the assault, police said, two people in the home took the food, placed it on a counter and began eating it.
...
My favorite part of the whole story. You’ve got to keep your priorities straight, no matter how adverse the conditions.
