(CNN) Donald Trump is taking his colorful campaign to Nashville on Saturday, where he will court a constituency that some say he is tailor-made for: the tea party.
He will compete in a presidential straw poll and address the National Federation of Republican Assemblies, a group that boasts it was "the tea party before there was a tea party."
Trump's appearance is highly anticipated at the conservative gathering: As a candidate, he's hitting the same notes -- anger at conventional politics, contempt for Washington and distrust of special interests and lobbyists -- that propelled the tea party movement in 2010.
With his fiery rhetoric and utter disdain for Washington, the billionaire real estate mogul has already captured the interest of many tea partiers, including former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, who praised him for having the "guts to say it like it is."

He’s a bit late in coming to this party, IMO.
Picking up the voters the GOP want to ignore.

Never to late.
They’ll write about anything to avoid recognizing and reporting on dem voters crossing over for Trump.
When a reporter say his campaign is COLORFUL, that means they think hes crazy for not having all the same liberal opinions as they do.
1. He has all the right enemies.
2. He can't be silenced.
I think he will get support there. Who else but Trump, Cruz, and Carson to rally around. The rest are serious losers.
But very welcome.
Better late than never.
All other politicians are owned by rich donors who don't have the best interests of America in mind
This is why only Trump is saying build a wall, deport illegals, illegals are criminals, China is ripping the USA off, Mexico etc. etc.
Politicians have destroyed this country the USA.
All the other politicians are looking to make money off the donations and to advance their political career
This is why many politicians talk a good game but have never done anything conservative or to further the Interests of America or Americans : FACT
Trump is the only one that can get the USA out of the hole the politicians and the media put us in
That and anybody who was a Democrat so long and espoused single-payer health care, massive taxes on the rich, and a host of other liberal dreams. What does he really believe on policy? Its hard to tell. The only thing certain is he believes in Trump and will say anything to get votes. A true Tea Partier? Hah! Hardly.
We don’t need to elect a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
But, in the past, Trump said to tax the rich!

Better than electing a sheep in sheep’s clothing.
Rich? You mean liberals? Why not, when most of them happen to be Democrats?
I’d rather rather cut taxes on middle class and working class folks.
Actually, it tells me a lot—and I’m still not a big Trump fan, but will vote for whomever the Republicans choose, of course.
Go Sen Cruz!
I’m so glad you are the sole protector of we the people, and you, and only you, know who is a wolf and who isn’t. We’ve elected way too many wolves in the past few years, and I find Donald to be more honest than most of them. And, I’m sick of you people saying - what does he believe in policy? Have you been living under a friggin rock or something? What policies has your candidate put forth? None of them are laying out everything at this time - it’s way too early. So, kindly, post your candidate’s entire policy plans, or shut up~!
It would be much better to, fully, implement the Fair Tax, and decrease all of the tax burden on the rich!
He is hitting two or three notes out of a concerto.
Admittedly the immigration note and the Islamic threat note may be enough in the face of ¡Yeb! and the Benghazi Grannie, but tea party material Trump ain’t.
He is saying that every day. I heard he wants a 15% top tier tax rate. And he wants to hit hedge funds hard. That is taxing the rich without strangling them.
