MINNEAPOLIS Taking his outsider message into the heart of the Democratic establishment, Senator Bernie Sanders, the Vermont independent, challenged hundreds of the partys leaders on Friday to embrace his candidacy, warning that the huge crowds of supporters he has drawn may not vote for Democratic candidates in 2016 unless he is at the top of the ticket.
Mr. Sanders, who has been gaining ground in the polls, was warmly complimentary at first in addressing the Democratic National Committees summer meeting here, crediting the party faithful for fighting on behalf of working people and low-income Americans.
But he soon turned pointed, suggesting that the Democrats electoral losses in 2014 when Republicans won control of the Senate could be repeated if the party nominated a traditional politician.
My friends, the Republican Party did not win the midterm election in November: We lost that election, Mr. Sanders said. We lost because voter turnout was abysmally, embarrassingly low, and millions of working people, young people and people of color gave up on politics as usual and they stayed home. Thats a fact.
As the audience sat largely in silence, Mr. Sanders continued: In my view, Democrats will not retain the White House, will not regain the Senate or the U.S. House, will not be successful in dozens of governor races across the country, unless we generate excitement and momentum and produce a huge voter turnout.
While he did not criticize his leading rival, Hillary Rodham Clinton, by name, Mr. Sanders argued that establishment politicians like her and like the very Democrats he was speaking to were uninspiring to voters.

When did Bernie change his Party and become a Democrat instead of an Independent?
Something about other people’s money. I confess I wasn’t fully paying attention but I was surprised to hear 100 mil.
Sanders/Kucinich 2016
A dream come true! (I recommend they use that as their slogan. It’s a conservative dream!!!)
2016
Biden-—D
Sanders-I
Trump-—R
That would be a split butt kicking by a Trump landslide.
That is true. Democrats may not win without him. Or with him. He may just possibly be irrelevant.
Soros and the wetbacks and visa over stayers will be much more important to Democrat fortunes in the election than Bernie Sanders.
My sister would have melted in ecstasy at the prospect of the two of them on the same ticket.
If it’s a long road it won’t get back. It requires a rapid physical transition impelled from the top and a rapid abolition of all Federal participation in education as well as the general banning of unions of teachers (and any government employees).
He could well do that but I doubt that he would actually persuade any voters to make that switch.
Biden -D
Sanders -I
Bush -R
Trump/Cruz - C(onstitution)
With the first three dividing up the Leftist vote Trump/Cruz would waltz in, assuming a relatively honest vote.
Jane Sanders socialism ran out of other people’s money even before she had enough of other people’s money. She could have borrowed the money from Chyyyynaaaaahhh just as the Feds do their socialisms.
Socialism is a plague that sorely needs curing sooner than later.
If he wants the democrat party nomination so bad why doesn’t he join the democrat party?
I read on FR that Bernie might seek a third part run if he is denied the Dem nomination. Has anyone heard/read any more about that? Great news if true.
. . . and has he been asked to disavow a third party run if he isnt nominated???
This guy, BERNIE SANDERS is your guy to go with. That's right. YOU WANT SANDERS IN 2016.
Paid for by Conservative voters with no ulterior motive whatsoever...
(I think they will take the bait because ANYBODY is better than "Hitlery")
Sanders 2016, because we can’t dig up Stalin.
