Italian book that explores different family types including same sex was banned by mayor of Venice, but pontiff becomes unlikely supporter ... In the book, the egg encounters a pair of gay penguins, lesbian rabbits successfully bringing up a family, as well as other family models, including a single parent hippo, a mixed race dog couple, and kangaroos that have adopted polar bear cubs...
Now Pardi has found an unlikely supporter in Pope Francis, who through his staff has written to the author praising her work. His holiness is grateful for the thoughtful gesture and for the feelings which it evoked, hoping for an always more fruitful activity in the service of young generations and the spread of genuine human and Christian values, wrote Peter B Wells, a senior official at the Vatican secretariat of state.
The letter, dated 9 July and recently seen by the Guardian, was a response to a parcel of childrens books sent by Pardi to the pontiff in June. The collection from her publisher, Lo Stampatello, including seven or eight books which deal with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues (LGBT), was accompanied by a heartfelt letter from the author describing the attacks she has come under in recent months. ...

So is he fine with a human couple seeing their pet chimp as a child?
Maybe that was a reference to Tarzan, Lord of the Apes.
Kudos to Sarah! I don’t think she’s Catholic but she knew far more about Jorge Mario Bergoglio than I did.
So, if someone sent in Mein Kampf and got back the same letter, it shouldn’t matter either?
Until the church issues an official retraction, they are responsible for this.
So when can we expect the official retraction saying this was a mistake?
If it’s this easy to get an endorsement, let’s send in Ted Cruz’ and Trump’s most recent books.
What mistake is there in the generic form letter response?
The obvious flaw in your comment is that there is no endorsement of the book submitted in the actual response.
You saw something that isn’t there.
LOL, sounds like the Pope is just as irresponsible for what his staff does as Obama is. Good thing they get to take credit for leading the organization but don’t have to take any of the responsibility for anything their staff says or does.
Well if the Pope’s desk calls all things blessed and progressing Catholicism I guess we can be glad they didn’t get other books favorable to porn, child abuse and abortions coming away with blessings as well.
They have quite the incompetent practice going on there, don’t they?
I think what’s incompetent is your reading comprehension, because the letter doesn’t say anything you say it does.
Pope Palin.
It was NOT a form letter. If you read further in the article, they say the letter was written directly and specifically to the books’ author.
Get ready for the Catholic Church’s version of Obama to push for “acceptance” of “irregular unions” at the Synod of the Family and real Catholic bishops to stop him. But he’ll try. Mark it down.
Well you know the world’s completely fouled up when the Pope adds a gay Childrens book to his reading list.
There is nothing in the article to provide any support for what you just said.
The only quote provided in the article screams generic form letter. The vatican has also said it was a generic form letter thank you.
“Well you know the worlds completely fouled up when the Pope adds a gay Childrens book to his reading list.”
Did the Pope add a gay childrens book to his reading list?
Or did you just make up a lie to spread for some reason?
My Catholic friends are just beside themselves about this pope. Really shaken up. This will send a couple right out the door of the church.
I don’t know many people whose loyalty to a church would be swayed by a generic form letter thank you sent by a staff member, sounds like interesting people
I didn’t utter a word that “it shouldn’t matter...”. I said it was the author who wrote to the Pope. I said the Pope did not respond in any fashion, did not reply, did not send smoke signals back to the author. He may not even have received the letter, or read the letter from the author.
We already know the Vatican is Lib Theo. from top to bottom.
I’m just saying the Pope did not write this letter attributed to him, which is the TITLE of this thread.
They managed to fit two lies into the title.
The letter isn’t from the pope, and the letter does not praise the book.
Thank you! It’s been a little like trying to shake water from your ear, this morning— everyone is too fact free for words and can not read plain English.
I have been first in line to criticize the Pope, but I like it to be for a reason that is true and incontrovertible.
This story is a complete fraud.
Just need a lying title and a few out of context words to convince people that a generic form letter response sent by a staff member is a sure sign of the apocalypse.
