George, I am one of the guys at the end of the bar nursing a beer.
You know, the guys you in your elitist Washington ivory tower look down upon and mock because we are willing to listen to what Donald Trump has to say.
You should listen, too, instead of ridiculing us. If you did you might hear the sound of millions of people yearning for the United States to return to its greatness, instead of watching their country slide into a socialist third-world Greece that cannot even protect its borders, let alone lead the world or stand up to the terrorists in Iran
I agree!
I’d like to think that George Will admires the writings of teh great G.K. Chesterton.
Chesterton spent a lot of time in Pubs,a nd did much of his best writing there.
I had heard his wife is working for Scott Walker’s election camp, is that true?
Great article
George Will’s wife is a GOPe consultant working for the Scott Walker campaign.
Unbiased reporting, right George?
Yes which is why alot of people now know Walker is a GOPe RINO with his open borders BS.
Trump loves this country unequivocally. The others do with reservation because they feel they are smarter than us because they are wealthy. Trump understands he has been lucky and smart in life but doesn’t look down his nose at us - the great unwashed people of the “city on a shining hill” to paraphrase Ronaldus Maximus.
I used to like George Will. Now, I can’t remember why. He has shown his true elitist colors. Go Trump. Go Cruz.
‘Will wont listen. He is a dedicated Inside-The-Beltway henchman who knows what would happen to him were he to oppose the globalists.’
He probably knows what would happen to him in a fair number of blue collar bars as well.
Look up “Nancy Boy” in the dictionary, and I’m pretty sure you’ll find George Will’s picture next to the definition...
He nailed it ten thousand times better than I ever could. The best article I’ve read in years.
Wow, guys/gals of FR, this is turning into a real war between the RIGHT and the LEFT!!!
I must confess though to some surprise over how many RINO’s like George Will are crawling out of their dark, dank hiding place under the floor boards. It’s analogous I think to a “coming out of the closet” moment for a homosexual!
I believe we are truly witnessing the obliteration of the Old Guard in the Republican Party. I hope so anyway.
I remember why. He's eloquent and has a knack for finding the exact right word. He used to apply his talents in positive ways. Unfortunately, that was a long time ago. I'm ready to wave good bye to George Will.
It's time to clean house in DC, and we don't have time for polite conversation with big government liberals until we fix the catastrophic failings they have created. We have to stop Amnesty and remove the vast majority of illegals. We have to kill Obamacare in order to restore freedom. We have to slash spending and slash excess regulations in order to restore jobs. Until those tasks are accomplished, we cannot even pretend to be nice to America's enemies in the Democrat party.
Fantastic article, thanks for posting it. The author is like one of those mythical “first 100 people in the Boston phonebook” who would govern the nation better than the smartest 100 professors from Harvard. It is all about common sense and real-world experience. George Will, whom I long ago admired but have come to have contempt for, has little common sense and even less real-world experience.
Will and those like him should think about the following:
There is NOTHING more conservative than stopping a permanent democrat/marxist voting majority and doing whats best for the people and the country. By virtue of Mr.Trumps position on illegal immigration he Trumps all others conservatism. [Credit to FReeper Lopeover for this quote].
We face a critical choice in the Republican primaries. Which of these 2 people do we nominate for President:
1) The practical guy who will do what I want 75% of the time, and save the country in the process; vs.
2) The (mythical) ideologically-pure guy who will do what I want 100% of the time, but who can’t get elected.
I’ll choose Door #1 every time. “The Perfect is the enemy of the Good” - because trying to attain that which is perfect necessarily precludes being able to actually DO what is good. FYI, credit to General George S. Patton, Jr. for the quote about the Perfect and the Good.
You laid out our choice this election well!
Bow ties don’t play well at the Honky-Tonk.
This is when I quit liking him...and all the others.
And Obama broke bread with several conservative media figures just prior to taking office in January 2009. That dinner, which took place at conservative columnist George Will's house, included Krauthammer, Gigot, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol and National Review editor Rich Lowry.
George is just upset that his wife is going to lose her job because Walker is fading to black. There goes the two week New Zealand cruise. LOL!
