CAPE CANAVERAL, Fl. (Reuters) - Sea levels worldwide rose an average of nearly 3 inches (8 cm) since 1992, the result of warming waters and melting ice, a panel of NASA scientists said on Wednesday.
In 2013, a United Nations panel predicted sea levels would rise from 1 to 3 feet (0.3 to 0.9 meters) by the end of the century. The new research shows that sea level rise most likely will be at the high end of that range, said University of Colorado geophysicist Steve Nerem.
Sea levels are rising faster than they did 50 years ago and its very likely to get worse in the future, Nerem said.
The changes are not uniform. Some areas showed sea levels rising more than 9 inches (25 cm) and other regions, such as along the U.S. West Coast, actually falling, according to an analysis of 23 years of satellite data.

And yet there is no coastal flooding/encroachment.
I see there's a fundamental problem with these metrics. There is only one ocean.
“Some areas showed sea levels rising more than 9 inches (25 cm) and other regions, such as along the U.S. West Coast, actually falling, according to an analysis of 23 years of satellite data.”
Does anyone at NASA have a high school science class in their education history? Water seeks its own level. Start checking for sinking land.
Things that make you go "huh?"
LOL! In other words, where we can all readily inspect it, the sea level has fallen.
...and everywhere else, somehow water holds different levels. New Physics instead of New Math, one presumes!
“such as along the U.S. West Coast, actually falling”
So it’s nothing to do with melting ice, but plate tectonics and continental uplift/downfall.
Sea levels began to rise 18k years ago at the end of the last glacial period. They have risen about 135 meters since then which is an average of 7.5 millimeters per year. That is an average of 750 mm per century (29.5 inches) which is far more than the average over the last century.
From 1880 to 2000 sea level rose about 20 cm or just under 8 inches. Far far less than the nearly 30 inches per century average over the last 18,000 years.
Time to go “down the ocean?”
This reminds me of that Gilligan’s Island episode where the Professor thinks that the island is sinking, which causes everyone to panic. As it turns out, Gilligan has been using the Professor’s measuring stick for fishing and has been gradually moving it further out into the lagoon.
Or, rather than studying this phenomenon and learning about it, 'Scientists' can yell "GLOBAL WARMING" at the top of their lungs, and reporters - who don't know the scientific method from the rhythm method - dutifully report it as "fact".
LMAO. I suspect the typical “scientist” who publishes this nonsense spends most of his life trying to figure out how to fill up the north half of his bathtub.
My plans to build a coastal marina in Possom Holler, Tennessee are finally coming true.
why do I get the gut feeling that this is all bull crap? Maybe because of the hundreds of lies and fake reports that have already surfaced in the past on this subject.
We have liquid water pile up in drifts out on our front yard. I hate it when it does that.
The changes are not uniform?
Well, that’s weird and BS.....

Now THAT’s funny , I don’t care who you are.
take you glass of beer and set it flat on a table, now tilt it a little to the right, did the right side go higher and the left side go lower. Same glass of beer just moved. LOL
