Donald Trump got what sounded like something close to an endorsement from one prominent member of Congress on Monday: fellow New York Republican Peter King. Responding to RNC Chairman Reince Priebus assertion that Trumps presence in the 2016 presidential race has been a net positive for the party, Rep. King said he agreed that Trump is moving Republicans in the right direction. ADVERTISEMENT
I dont agree with everything Donald Trump says, but hes making other Republicans go off their talking points, hes appealing to real people, King told CNNs Wolf Blitzer Monday afternoon. As a New Yorker, he noted that Trump may be a billionaire from the east side of Manhattan, but he talks like the guys I grew up with in Queens or Brooklyn, he talks like a real person.
I think hes forcing the other candidates to be more real and to get off their talking points and address issues that the American people are concerned about, King added, before disclosing that Trump contributed to his past campaigns. He also named Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, John Kasich and Carly Fiorina as other candidates who he thinks would make good nominees for the party.
Invoking Kings contentious history with other Republicans currently running for president, Blitzer pointed out that Rand Paul and Ted Cruz were both missing from that list.

Jeff Sessions gets it and now Peter King gets it.
Peter King is a tool who is on CNN all the time when they need a Republican who’s willing to stab other Republicans in the back.
I’d only worry if Peter King endorsed me.
Not surprising. They’re both “New York Republicans” who agree with keeping the NSA surveillance program and trying Snowden for treason.
Hell yeah. New York is in play.
Go Trump!
Peter the King is dead to me. I only come on threads mentioning him just to say that.
What a (horse) "stuff" sandwich this is.
He complements Trump, then says these others would be good too.
This wasn't about complimenting Trump. It was about saying these other folks are just as good.
It would be nice if Mr. King talked like a real person with real common sense ideas. He is not on the side of good in this country and is one of the 95 percent of business as usual Republicans who need to be replaced.
Now I really hope Trump picks Cruz as VP if he gets the nomination because King despises Cruz.
Peter King endorses Trump. Trump is done.
Oh yeah,
We’re just going to ignore the fact that Peter King has been a lifelong RINO and yet is intrigued by Trump and you view that as a good thing. A Congressman that has trashed the right and the Tea Party thinks Trump is great! And you’re not even smart enough to give that a 2nd thought.
In the old days, this would be the kiss of death for a candidate. But now a liberal Republican giving praise to another liberal Republican that he knows isn’t conservative? Oh, now that just King “getting it”.
And yet King was vehemently against Cruz. That should tell you everything you need to know about who the real conservative in this race is.
And that's all I need to hear from him.
Peter King endorses Trump...that says Trump will tell the truth about Islam.
“They are getting the message...”
Maybe, but they’re also all $hit scared! The GOPe is going down and none of these turds want to be caught in the coming conflagration. I’d put Peter King down as one of them!
King trying to sabatage Trump?
That’s two strikes in one day for Don-o!
First was his idiotic Bible quote and now King as a pseudo-endorsement?
That’s the wrong King. PK is a totalitarian nut job; he loves the NSA and big gov.
A Steve King endorsement would be much more reassuring.
Not surprising that one of the biggest RINOs in Congress likes Trump.
King seems to only believe in the odd numbered amendments in the Bill of Rights as he despises the 2nd and 4th,
