Look out Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio, the political world no longer thinks you will be the only real contenders for Florida's March 15 presidential primary. In our latest Florida Insider Poll, nearly 80 percent of the savvy Sunshine state politicos surveyed predict that Donald Trump will be on the ballot as well.
"The Trump bubble is certainly not going to burst as early as many of us expected -- he is here for awhile," lamented one Republican.
Many Republican leaders had expected Trump's candidacy to fizzle out by now, but he continues to lead in most polls. Trump still being in the race by mid-March is not the same thing as Trump winning the Sunshine state race, however. Two thirds of the Florida Insiders predicted Jeb Bush will win Florida's primary and ultimately the Republican nomination too.
"2016 race certainly getting stranger by the day - but only Jeb has the resources & campaign organization to wait out the Trump bubble until in bursts. Trump currently the anti-Bush option - he is allowing no one else to grab that mantle with any certainty - that helps Jeb long term," said one Republican. "End of the day Jeb emerges and wins a very tough fight for the nomination. Followed by an even tougher fight in the fall that will also see him prevail."
This is an unscientific survey of 150 members of Florida's political elite - campaign professionals, lobbyists, recovering politicians, fundraisers, and the like. It reflects the thinking of Florida's political establishment, which is not exactly enamored with Trump.
"Even though many of them are my friends, I will admit that it's fun watching the daily meltdowns from within the consultant class over Teflon Trump's inability to bleed when cut," one Republican confessed....

——Fact: Trump will beat Yeb Bush like a dog ...——
LOL...you must not know Florida voters very well...
Yeb Bush was actually a pretty decent governor...people will remember that...
He will win the low information rino vote and Rubio will win the Cuban vote...
That doesn’t leave Trump with enough votes to win...
He will do OK...but he isn’t going to win Florida...
“Two thirds of the Florida Insiders predicted Jeb Bush will win Florida’s primary and ultimately the Republican nomination too. “
Wow. Only 2/3 will be wrong this time. they’re getting better at this as time goes along. Just a couple of weeks ago it was almost ALL the pundits and almost ALL the “professional” politicos predicting Donald’s demise. Now it’s only 2/3.
The last two polls have had Trump ahead by 4 and 3%. For Jebby to win, Rubio has to quit.
“This is an unscientific survey”
No sh*t.
Unless you were one of the farmers, ranchers or homeowners on the wrong end of one of his massive land-grabs... 65,000 acres in my county (Collier) alone. "It was to preserve the environment for future generations."
Then he was a very bad governor. In fact, he was a evil piece of s**t.
“I watched the rally tonight, Fox kept cutting in with commercials, very annoying.”
Curiously enough, CNN didn’t do that, and even more curious, they had a number of pro-Trump and semi-objective analysts afterwards and DID NOT really trash Trump. They had one douchebag analyst yammering about inclusivity, but the dude didn’t come across as all that credible.
The Tampa bay times (slimes) is a left wacko rag.
If the “elites” i.e. Jeb’s buttboys think it’s going to be close, then the reality is Trump is projected to win in a landslide.
Yeah his “illegal immigration is an act of love” stuff and support for more government control of education and his general support for the failed status quo makes him a nonstarter. I already voted for his recovered drunk brother who when the rubber met the road went full throttle bailouts and spending for all. I’m done with mealy mouthed “compassionate conservatives” who use us and abuse us and squander our advantage when we have our enemies on the ropes.
These insiders should be institutionalized.
If Jeb doesn’t win Florida handily, his campaign is over, even if he refuses to admit it. It won’t matter if he has $50 million from his rich friends in the bank.
He’s tedious, isn’t he? A one-note samba in a bad key.
Last week one of my best friends got mad at me over Donald Trump. She sent me an email that said we just don’t agree on politics Trump Is an obnoxious blowhard. So I just really backed off as our friendship is thirty years old and she and her husband are pretty conservative. Tonight she just emailed me and said they watched the Trump rally live and he is the greatest and they are now totally for Trump. So go figure.
That’s a great story. I think more and more conservatives will come around, just like your friends. I have lib relatives that are actually aboard the Trump Train :) Big difference, for our get togethers, than the past few years.
I had an irascible stubborn neighbor “set me straight” on why Donald should be the next president and why I should vote for him. I let him convince me ;)
[I think more and more conservatives will come around, just like your friends]
My prayer is for Trump to come around in regard to Planned Parenthood.
True dat. Talking to the insiders really isn’t the smart thing to do right now. Insiders aren’t grass roots....
Ok. I accept that you are a patriot and that you fear Trump is a scam or a trick or a mistake and I won’t address you anymore because I can’t without echoing what LS said, that you are tedious.
Smart, you are :)
