Your thoughts?
I have to disagree.
He doesn’t speak like Reagan would. The way Reagan spoke is from a different time and place, he was a very special and rare man.
That being said, there are indeed similarities between Trump and Reagan, and that is their ability to go around those who would block them, filter them, or attempt to translate them and speak directly to Americans, and that is a powerful ability.
Trump is not Reagan, but he is something special.
Nope !
.
He can hold forth with elites, he touches the hearts of the common man.
He’s the absolute OPPOSITE of the many GOP leaders who’ve let us down:
He rewards his FRIENDS and punishes his ENEMIES.
I respect that.
He is dissing NO ONE who didn’t absolutely BEG for it.
He can protect America.
I think the resemblance is much more a fall back to the time where you could actually talk about issues without having refs run out into the debate waiving yellow and red cards. Much more gridiron movement, get the ball to the goal line rather than some soccer analogy.
To put it more succinctly, both told you their opinions, and then tried to convince you that they are right. There is no dictating what you must believe. And honestly, that is a hugely refreshing thing to see return to politics today.
Go ahead, take a second, and if you have become involved in social media at all, go look at see how the more liberal people express opinions on a topic.. It is rather simple, an image with a bit of text on it, the issue dumbed down to 12 words or less, and a strict dictate that everyone must follow that opinion.
Hillary doesn't have to give a speech, just post an image on instagram and her followers will dutifully paste it into their social media accounts and parrot exactly the opinion of the image. No debate, no challenge, no question.
That really works for about 20% of the population - thinking is tough. Out of the remaining 80%, they too evolve.
Anyway, rambling, but to get back to the topic: Trump is no Reagan. Only Reagan was Reagan. I'd love to see Trump follow in Reagan's footsteps, and know just like Reagan, Trump will make some horrible mistakes.
All that said, it is so refreshing to see more than one candidate in this campaign who can actually hold an opinion, even if others disagree with it. Glad I don't have to choose who to give money to; Trump says he doesn't want it, Cruz does, made that decision easy.
No
Nope but, he may be rhe second coming, as it were...
Reagan was the first president that I voted for. After four years of Carter, terrible economy, Iran hostage crisis, and weak leadership, America needed a great leader. I needed to start my adult life with something better than Carter. My daughter is in the same situation, except she had to experience Obama instead of Carter and Iran getting the bomb instead of a hostage crisis.
There are parallels in history, but Trump isn't Reagan. That isn't to say that Trump won't be as great or better than Reagan.
Trump is no Reagan.
Reagan was extremely effective at defining the issue and had the ability to succinctly state his position and his plans on how to deal with them.
It was a two step process and Reagan did it better than anyone including Trump. It’s a process that requires people to accept the first premise in order to deliver the next.
Trump is all over the map.
Not my cup of tea, but I can see how his rapid fire style appeals to soo many people that are desperate for a leader.
Trump is Johnny come lately to conservatism and although he talks tough, I can’t trust him because of his liberal past, I’ll vote for him in the general only because the alternative is much worse. There are better conservative candidates out there such as, Cruz, but it doesn’t matter anymore because the Donald has the MSM megaphone and has successfully duped the base into forgetting about his liberal policies.
Ronald Reagan was one of our greatest Presidents. Donald Trumps early candidacy reminds us of what we have missed since Reagan left the White House.
For the first time since the 1980s I have hope for America again. Its not so much the policies that make a leader a great leader. As my athletic coaches used to say, it all begins with attitude.
Attitude, as in positive attitude, is what Donald Trump has in spades. Though he is powerfully competent and successful he treats his teammates, we the people, as equals. Donald Trump has it. Boy does he ever.
You are witnessing history, folks.
lol...........
no
At best, Teddy Roosevelt without the military prowess.
I think of him as Bill O’Reilly with lots of money.
He is not the next Reagan. He is the first politician to kick the Beltway establishment in cods for a long time though, and hopefully he can snap the neck of the Geriatric Old Plotter’s club.
There are a lot of people saying that Trump is no Reagan because Trump is a lot more brash, even angry.
Imagine if we could bring back RR as he was in 1980, with his belief in the greatness of the United States, and showed him six and one half years of Obama and his imps abusing, degrading and destroying what Reagan loved with all his heart.
I daresay that Reagan might be a wee bit ticked off, and not only at Obama and his minions, but at the Republican party for allowing it.
Trump is no Reagan, but the times are vastly different. I think Reagan alive today would approve of Trump the firebrand, and might even engage in some very angry rhetoric himself.
Trump is the new Trump, no one else. Reminds me of Huey P. Long, and maybe Elmer Gantry. I am proud to stand with Ted Cruz.
We don't need to concern ourselves wither Trump is the next Reagan. Donald Trump has the opportunity to be a historic figure in our history in his own right. Let's see what he does with that opportunity.
Ping to the state list.
Probably the next Schwarzenegger.
