Is Trump the next Reagan? (vanity)
August 21, 2015 | me

I just finished watching a streaming video of Trump's rally in Alabama. And I gotta tell you, the guy spoke like Reagan would. Trump doesn't quite have Reagan's sense of humor, but otherwise, yep, Trump reminds me of Reagan.

"I'll say one thing, I've never seen anything like this before. "

That makes two of us.

It's not insulting to compare Trump to Reagan.

President Reagan was a great communicator. Even his foes admitted to that. He was coined "The Teflon President."

Trump is a great communicator. His delivery is quite different, but he clearly has his foes and rivals baffled. The "Gotcha moments" just make him more popular.

Reagan was a great communicator with the influece of the mid-west and Will Rogers.

Trump has that NYC, almost blue collar working class straight-talk delivery and lingo with a tiny bit of east coast Yiddish humor thrown in the mix.

Both were/are masters of giving a great presentation.

Reagan knew what he was talking about when he spoke.

If you pay attention Trump just speaks. It’s like his aides give him a stack of info from conservative blogs and he digests it and spews it. Want to know why? Ask him later? Changes something? Ask later. Says something revealing his more liberal nature? Ask later. No conviction.

Reagan had conviction.

Trump’s highly likely to be a big government spender, though, and I can’t support that.

Also, both were/are masters at making good deals.

I'm not criticizing Trump's delivery, just making the comparison.

I was criticizing Trump’s delivery. Maybe that didn’t come through. Reagan was much better. Jus say’in similar times, different effective deliveries.

That's getting pretty close to "Do you know who I am?" territory there dude. Keep it up, I've got lots of popcorn. (I stocked up)

No fewer than 12-15 mobys, eeyores, and trolls on this thread so far tonight; I expected as much.

Hodad, come back, all is forgiven!

Reagan? no. Trump doesn’t describe his vision nearly as grand

As far a speaking? Hell no. Aint even close.
As far as president? He has set the bar so high, I wonder if he can reach the goals.
But, being an outsider, and if he keeps the citizens behind him, he could well do it.

No matter who gets in, and I believe it will not be from the other party, they have one hell of a mess to deal with.

I agree, in a way. Now and again I'll go to Youtube and watch some of Reagan's old speeches. He was a great man. If I should live so long, I doubt that 25 years from now I'll go back and watch to some of Trump's old speeches.

But Trump lays out a vision for America quite the way Reagan did. Trump is bold, brash, and very positive. And Trump's ideas make sense. They appear to me, an "average" working American. All of that reminds me of Reagan.

Understand your concerns. Just one point: true narcissists don’t respond as Trump does to criticism. They seethe inside and plot revenge in quiet. This fits Obama to a tee, but not Trump.

Nasty accounts from former employees are certain to come out. But everybody so far says he is a great person to work for. This is not normally the case for a narcissist boss.

You might allow that much of the egotistical bluster is tongue-in-cheek, like Rush Limbaugh.

Just some thoughts, TIOLI.

OK, here’s the deal.

Reagan was the 70s into the 80s... It was a WHOLE DIFFERENT WORLD.

35 years later, and after Obama getting elected twice - regardless of whether the second election was stolen in Ohio - it is not the country that elected Reagan.

In this day and age, to keep the USA from finishing its slide over the precipice, whether it is Cruz (my 1st choice) or Trump, or whomever, we have GOT to put up and support new leadership. Literally to restore, protect and preserve the ideals and intent of The United States of America as a constitutional republic, NOT a democracy - a constitutional republic,

“Just the facts, ma’am.”

” US “... you got a mouse in yer pocket?..

I keep saying it because few want to engage the subject..
That there was massive voter fraud in 2012 everybody knows..
At least everybody that participated in the election on FR..

Nothing was done about it either...

Any that thinks it will not be huge in 2016 is delusional.. maybe Epic..
Some places check more or less.. other places they care barely.. about I.D.

Yet other places like where I live check completely..
It happens much more in some places.. but still happens in other places that do check kinda...

I suspect the democrats are working on their plans as we “speak”..
Cruz or Trump could be ROBBED like the bastard Romney was..

THATS WHY?..
