A North Korean military official says a meeting of senior party and defense officials led by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met Thursday night and "reviewed and approved the final attack operation."
He gave no details on what kind of military retaliation North Korea would see as appropriate punishment for South Korea's shelling of its territory on Thursday.
Kim Yong Chol, director of the general reconnaissance bureau of the North Korean army, on Friday denied South Korean allegations that Pyongyang has been raising tensions on the peninsula.
He denied the North fired anything across the Demilitarized Zone and says South Korea has not offered conclusive evidence where the rocket was launched in the North, or where exactly it landed in the South.
He suggested human error might have been a factor on the South Korean side and says the South's decision to retaliate with its own barrage was dangerous and rash.
Kim says: "Skirmishes can lead to all-out war."

How’s the harvest coming in NK ?
Facts:
The Obama is NK’s best chance that the USA will do _nothing_ if NK moves on SK.
They’re in talks with PP, I assume.
Fact is NK has a huge number of artillery pointed at Seoul, a world-class city of some 10 million people. The former is quite capable of turning the latter into rubble in about a half hour (at which point the former would pretty much cease to exist).
Obama won’t say a word until Japan and the other members of that “negotiating” team steps up.
I think they have a nuke or two.
North Korea is crazy enough to use it.
Japan won’t care so long as NK’s actions are limited to SK.
>>I think they have a nuke or two.
I don’t think they do. They blew up 3 very light explosions over the last decade, which would require actually higher tech. than normal. I think they just put a few hundred tons of leftover fertilizer that they got from South Korea a decade ago and blew it up.
If North Korea attacks South Korea, the U.S. gets involved simply by virtue of the personnel it has based there.
U.S. in Japan will play a role in any conflict.... what if Pyongyang lobs a couple of missiles at those bases?
TnT could've made that blast inside the hill, in a cave.
Quicker than the 6 day war. I give it about 72 hours.
RoK’s are bad asses.
Break out the Twinkies, boys. Dear Leader is low on these treats.
Yes, they could do damage to Seoul. Wars are won by economic output. Last time I was in the know, North Korea couldn’t afford the gas to pull their artillery pieces, opting to use ox carts. South Korea is one tough country, economically and militarily.
Here’s something of interest.
The USN is currently swapping out it’s Japan based forward deployed carrier. The former deck, the Washington, and the future deck, the Reagan, are both on the US West Coast for turnover ops. Along with their airwings and escort ships. Well out of range of a potential Nork first strike.
Think of the impact of the US carriers not being in Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941 ...
