WASHINGTONSen. Ted Cruz caused a stir when he met in July with Donald Trump. But the two could be making a joint campaign appearance soon, according to The Daily Beast.
The two Republican presidential candidates campaigns discussed holding an event together in Washington, D.C., and Trump invited Cruz on his trip to the border, a Trump insider told the website.
While other candidates have denounced Trumps controversial comments on immigration and Sen. John McCain--including former Gov. Rick PerryCruz defended the real estate mogul.
One of the reasons youre seeing so many 2016 candidates go out of their way to smack Donald Trump is they dont like politicians that speak directly about the challenges of illegal immigration, Cruz told reporters in July....

If they come together as a team that could create a problem...Obviously Cruz isn’t all that popular, poll wise...I’m wondering if he might bring Trump’s numbers down...
Wow....good catch! A New Year’s prescient tweet :)
True, but nothing would prevent a candidate from saying, "I think Senator SoandSo would make a great Secretary of Stae in my administration", or "you know, Dr. ProLife would be the perfect choice to run HHS in my administration..." Just musing out loud about the kind of people he would appoint (wink, wink). The actual formal offers can take place later.
As it stands now it is much more likely to be Trump/Cruz. Trump is 69, Cruz is 44. A stint for four or eight years as VP would propel Cruz into the White House much easier than another two terms in the Senate.
Also with Cruz, Trump get the Evangelical vote. 40 Million Evangelicals do not vote. Cruz could deliver a large portion of those nonvoters to Trump in return for a strong VP slot.
VP’s can do nothing like Biden or be incredibly powerful like Chaney. A strong Cruz as VP with the bombast and salesmanship of Trump would be a very solid ticket.

That would be my concern also. Cruz has a very loyal following but very small going by the poll numbers. He also has very big money donors and is part of the establishment. That would not sit well with a lot of Trump supporters.
Just when I thought Trump could not get any more surprises, this comes out. Who knows if it is true. You can see he is thinking about how to crush his competition if this is for real.
I do not see Trump taking second fiddle. I just don’t. But I do see his fingerprints all over this. This is his style. If they were bold enough, and I mean this is a barn burner, to start joint appearances and even do what would be joint campaigns between the two of them they would garner close to 40% of the vote as a block.
That is what you call in a commercial bidding war a lock out spec. It is a specification that none of the other candidates can compete with which means come primary time the Trump/Cruz voters will be familiar enough to vote as a block for the man they want as president either Trump or Cruz.
I have no idea how this would play out because it is very very bold and probably never done before but with this kind of lock out spec the race is over in the primaries before it starts.
This is the kind of thing Trump likes to do and that is crush his competitor so he cannot compete ever again.
A VP would he not also be Presdent of the Senate?
A good businessman is what we need—and I think they are both that—but Trump has the most experience in business, of course.
I agree. As Trump OR Cruz supporters, we really need to hold the line here. It would be good if we could get those guys 1st and 2nd (take your pick) in ever stinking poll we can use FR to alert us to, always keeping them number one and number two, so that their joining up would have the maximum impact. Contributions too. I think their (threat of) joining forces would be too much for the GOPe to fend off or ignore.
They’d have to have a rubber room instead of a green room at Fox. :)
Team Trump/Cruz!
If they announced something like you are proposing, the election would be in the bag.
Glen Beck may have to go check into rehab again.
Pray America is waking
Speaking of FOX I notice at some of the liberal blogs I regularly check on the number of posts referring to FOX as Faux News and being a conservative bastion have gone down quite a bit. Maybe the idiots on the left realize they have fellow Trump haters in FOX News.
I am a Crumpet! :)
Yep, a lot of folks breaking out in a cold sweat. :)
Cruz ranges from second to fourth place in the polls. He’s plenty popular.
Add Trump Cruz and Dr Carson % in polls together.
