WASHINGTONSen. Ted Cruz caused a stir when he met in July with Donald Trump. But the two could be making a joint campaign appearance soon, according to The Daily Beast.
The two Republican presidential candidates campaigns discussed holding an event together in Washington, D.C., and Trump invited Cruz on his trip to the border, a Trump insider told the website.
While other candidates have denounced Trumps controversial comments on immigration and Sen. John McCain--including former Gov. Rick PerryCruz defended the real estate mogul.
One of the reasons youre seeing so many 2016 candidates go out of their way to smack Donald Trump is they dont like politicians that speak directly about the challenges of illegal immigration, Cruz told reporters in July....

And it’s just getting going...
I suspect there will be a bunch more surprises before it’s all said and done!
I could vote for either of these men—I’d like Cruz as president, but I could live with Trump/Cruz if that’s what we get.
This is getting seriously entertaining, but at the same time I think there is a much more robust debate and discussion of issues. Meanwhile, a socialist is stealing Hillary’s thunder and Hillary can get a word in edge wise be cause of her email server.
They made a deal already. If Trump and Cruz really was the GOP ticket can you imagine all the Xanax and Prozac the lefties and the GOPe would consume?
I think it’ll end up being Cruz/Trump, with both men having almost equal power to get this country back on track. Would love to see Trump assigned to massively reduce the size of the federal government. If anyone could do it, Trump could.
They will, oh they will :)
unstopable.......
I agree that Cruz would be preferable as President but IMO for the time being he would be way better as VP than Donald and would certainly control the agenda for the Senate and the House. Would also serve as wise counsel for Trump and could also have a marked influence on the set-up and selection of Cabinet heads setting up his program to follow Trump as President.
I could see Trump offering all of the other candidates places in his Admin to get on board with a unified Primary/General. Remember, he is a deal maker and an outside of the box WIN-WIN is EXACTLY what I would expect from a deal maker. Just my 2C.
Heads exploding...here and there.
Absolutely
If Trump gets elected, I would like to see Cruz become Senate majority (minority) leader.
If Cruz gets elected, I would like to see Trump appointed to U.N Ambassador. Let’s unleash him on upon the world.
Trump as Secretary of State? I don’t think that would be as funny or as productive as UN Ambassador.
Ted Cruz would be an excellent conservative adviser to Donald Trump.....the polar opposite of that awful Valerie Jarrett.
Yes, my first thought. On the plus side it’s becoming easy to identify the GOPe moles and RoveBOTs on the FR.
I like Donald Trump. I think hes terrific, I think hes brash, I think he speaks the truth, Cruz said on Fox News.
@realDonaldTrump for President of the United States! @SenTedCruz Vice President ;A #WinningTicket2016 #TrumpCruz2016"— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 1, 2015
Heres what I want to happen.
I want Cruz as POTUS, but I think he needs to ride in as Trumps VP.
I think that Trump could increase his lead dramatically by announcing a partnership with Cruz.
Trump runs for the nomination, Cruz steps aside and implores his followers to join team Trump.
Trump/Cruz announce that Trump will serve two years and then turn the presidency over to Cruz who could theoretically then serve 10 years as POTUS.
Ill bet two years would be plenty for Trump, he just wants to win and put the country back on course.
So Trump does his best for two years and a day and then goes back to his business empire.
Cruz takes over and brings in a solid conservative as his VP [perhaps Palin, perhaps not]
All this would cause an uproar in American politics..nothing like it has ever been attempted before.
It would have the effect of consolidating the votes for Trump and Cruz and also any supporters of the VP choice of Cruz after he assumed the presidency.
None of this is illegal, but it is very unorthodox.
It would catch both the democrats and the GOPee on the back foot.
Call me crazy but I think it would play well with the voters.
Think of it. A consolidation of the support for three people and all the money needed to run a modern campaign...heck, if you could get several popular figures to agree to accept cabinet positions you could bring in yet more support. Run as a team.
Trump could buy an hour of TV time and announce that he, Cruz and the others would be announcing something big... imagine the audience!
Dangerous times call for innovative solutions.
