On Sunday, a 72 year old woman entered the north vestibule of St. Cecilia’s Cathedral on 40th and Burt Street. As she stood at the welcome table reading a copy of the parish newsletter, two black men, approximately 16 years of age, entered behind her. One grabbed her purse from her arm and ran out the door. The second, for no explainable reason, hit the woman squarely on the side of her face, knocking her down .
The incident has sparked outrage. Police are now looking for the men responsible for attacking the 72-year-old woman.
WOWT 6 News heard from her granddaughter Tuesday afternoon. She said thankfully her grandmother is now doing fine.
The church pastor said security video shows the woman look around as if she noticed the other people but she never sensed any potential threat.
She made her way through the doors picked up a pamphlet and was blindsided. One assailant grabbed her purse and the other punched her, knocking her to the ground, gashing her head on the table.
The attackers took off down the street. The victim went to the hospital.
The pastor said the entire parish is hoping the people responsible are caught.
Fr. Michael Gutgsell said, "Of course it's shocking because we haven’t had anything like that here - at least not in 10 years. And so obviously we prayed for her the next two masses and the parishioners are now concerned. ‘Is it safe? Should I be in the church?’ And we tried to assure them this is a safe place and it was something completely out of the blue."
If you recognize the men responsible or saw anything suspicious in the area of 40th and Cuming or 40th and Burt let police know. The number you need to call is 402-444-STOP.

Funny, I was just talking to someone recently about potential and actual crimes at churches.
A local large church has recently increased its security on Sunday mornings due to sermons on gay marriage and transgenderism.
Obama should be held personally responsible for this brutal attack, because he not only enables it, he openly encourages it. As do the millions of a$$holes who put him in office.

Then I checked the WOWT link itself. That entire first paragraph is gone, and has been replaced by some comment about camera angles.
The WOWT article says that it was "Updated", presumably after massmike's posting. I wonder why...
If the races were reversed this would be national news. Thugs like this have no soul. When they catch these perps I don’t want to hear some lefty apologist make excuses for these losers saying they grew up in troubled circumstances. Plenty of Americans grew up in tough circumstances and made something of their lives without resorting to thuggery like this. Inexcusable.
