Republicans thought they had learned a lesson after 2012: Turning off Latino voters ensures defeat in the general election.
But as the disruptive presidential candidacy of Donald J. Trump continues to gain support, his hard line on immigration has driven rivals to match his biting anti-immigrant language and positions long considered extreme. It risks another general election cycle in which Hispanics view the party as unfriendly no matter who the nominee is, Republican strategists warned.
This week, several of Mr. Trumps Republican rivals, including Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, echoed his call to end automatic citizenship for the American-born children of undocumented immigrants, repealing a constitutional right dating from the Civil War era.

....Actually, the biggest group that will swing the election is Generation X voters....
Any non minority group that has a low turnout rate is, ripe for exploitation. But when we are dealing with the immigration issue, it’s easy to appeal to someone on strictly the economic issues of immigration. Its damaging to the average US worker. That appeal cuts across party lines and will motivate the normally unmotivated voter to go to the polls.
And the Constitution sure as heck doesn’t say, “As soon as they step over the border, the CITIZENS give them the 4-star Gimmies: welfare, food stamps, no taxes, pensions, etc., on THEIR dime.” Sure as heck doesn’t say that. We sure as heck never did that for any other immigrants. We sure as heck didn’t do it for MY forefathers.
They may not speak up about it out of fear, but I suspect most legal Hispanics dont care for illegals neither
You’d be wrong.. Beaners watch what the blacks do... very successfully..
Do NOT back up an inch.. double down on intimidation..
Lie, allude, stretch the truth, speak half truths..
All for the betterment of the barrio.. vato....
If you think they consider themselves americans wrong again..
Mexicans (for one) are proud of their 3rd world hell hole..
The the good old days were in a Hellhole.. they know NOTHING about the American Constitution what it actually “IS”..
Sadly neither do most american kids.. and not a few adults..
Illegagrants..
disagree
Wholeheartedly disagree
And, from the article, I find it insulting to think that people of any particular ethnic background are bound to a particular point of view. There is no mandatory opinion on any subject simply because of melatonin.
No he’s not wrong.
And you do know that Freepers are quite familiar with the lies of the NY Times?
Trump has in a new poll 43% of Hispanics who are here LEGALLY backing him and his plan to get rid of the criminal aliens.
Cruz also took 40% of Hispanics in Texas when he ran for Senator and Romney only got 27%.
So once again the lamebrain reporter for the Carlos Slim controlled NY Times is sitting at a cubicle trying to find a narrative that their homosexual editor (no I’m not exaggerating) will like and approve for print.

“In Wong Kim Ark the Supreme Court held that, under the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, a man born within the United States to foreigners (in that case, Chinese citizens) who have a permanent domicile and residence in the United States and are carrying on business in the United States[3] and who were not employed in a diplomatic or other official capacity by a foreign power, was a citizen of the United States”.
Using the above criteria.........
A woman illegally entering the United States to make it to the nearest hospital to have a baby DOES NOT MAKE THAT BABY A US CITIZEN.
Trump said today on O’Reilly he’s right about this and I believe him. He’s hired the best Constitutional lawyers in the world to prove it.
The 14th amendment does not apply to people who are invaders and that is exactly what the illegals are and that includes their offspring.
Illegal Invaders is the correct term.
Immigrants are invited, Invaders are not and must be repelled.
Might it be that various "experts" regularly trotted out (especially on FNC) claim that to be the case.
No less than a U.S. Constitutional professor and legal expert (Mark Levin) just today, actually read the statute and the writing about it from it's author and the reasoning behind the 14th Amendment (basically to grant citizenship to children of slaves brought here against their will and sold to various plantation owners and others wanting free labor.)
That Amendment is written in such a way that anyone with an 8th grade education (before the 1970s, that is) can understand it, unlike today's laws, written by lawyers to ensure no one can understand them, when that is their very purpose!
foreign invaders
I like that or ‘Criminal foreign nationals.’
I think there’s maybe a third of Hispanics who will vote for a conservative. But they aren’t the ones who want amnesty and open borders. The ones who do want it will never vote Republican even if they did pass amnesty.
Hispanics were never going to vote GOP anyway.
Some of them will. A majority of them won’t. It’s a shame that our democratic porcess has been balkanized like this but it’s a reality we have to face.
The Hispanic electorate will like what Trump will do to them. Their neighborhoods will become safer with the drug violence notched way back, there will be jobs opening up and better futures for their children. What the hell is not to like about that?
Worth listening to if you didn't hear it live.
No anchor babies. Period.
The ones streaming over the border now are even less likely to vote Republican.
