With guns on guns the P51 would wax them. I flew several Air Combat USA flights and during the pre-flight instructions the head guy said that air combat is basically fought in an egg shaped fight, where the turn radius always benefits the most agile and the vertical benefits the fastest. But when the fast one goes vertical they’ve got to come down and guess who’s waiting for them? I’ve waxed several airline pilots who would do what we call martini turns, turns that are gradual and low g’s .... I’ve always turned into them and burned them every time.
