Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker said Monday that he believes the children of undocumented immigrants shouldn't automatically have a right to American citizenship if they're born in the United States.
Asked by msnbc if birthright citizenship should be ended, the Wisconsin governor replied: "Yeah, to me it's about enforcing the laws in this country. And I've been very clear, I think you enforce the laws, and I think it's important to send a message that we're going to enforce the laws, no matter how people come here we're going to enforce the laws."

Go, Walker, GO!!
Go, Trump, GO!!
Go, Cruz, GO!!
As Trump and Walker know, those born here are citizens. Any change in the law would not affect anyone born here prior to the effective start date of any law change. And, that’s lots of people. But, the sentiment is clearly broad.
I read earlier that the only Supreme Court case on this is Wong Ark and that was a ruling that children born to legal residents were citizens. Nothing about children born to illegals. So where are they getting authority to issue birth certificates for children born to illegals?
Good thing that the not-a-real-conservative candidate, who has no real clue about what it means to be a conservative, is not having any real influence on the real conservatives.
Lets ask ourselves this question -— Who do we want to be American Citizens when born here:
1) Babies born here with one or both parents who are citizens
2) Babies born here with one or both parents who are not citizens but have permanent residency
3) Babies born here with one or both parents who are neither citizens nor permanent residents but who are here legally
4) Babies who are born here with BOTH parents here illegally.
Those are the distinctions we have to make and I dont think our immigration laws make any distinction.
In the USA, categories 1 to 4 above ALL QUALIFY a baby to be American.
The mimi-me (too) is at it again...
Yes, illegal immigrant mothers and their children were deported regularly.
1) Babies born here with one or both parents who are citizens
Ignoring his previous stand on illegal immigration,
Walker’s present stand is every bit as strong as Trump’s.
As far as I know, the differences are:
Trump wants Mexico to pay for the wall, Walker doesn’t discuss it.
Walker wants legal immigration to be part of the picture, Trump doesn’t discuss it.
In case anyone isn’t clear, we have to enforce the laws.
For the record, here’s what notorious amnesty-uber-alles advocate John McCain has advocated in the past:

Note how much of what he promised to do is as or more hawkish than any of today’s candidates promise.
As a result, I have zero interest in what any of them tell us they would do. I want to know what they’ve already done.
Go! AMERICA! GO!
1) One or both parents are American citizens.
Perhaps a grace period of one year for a child of a parent who become naturalized after the birth.
Unless the law is retroactive.
RE: Babies born here with one or both parents who are citizens
OK, assuming we adopt the above, do we make the law RETROACTIVE, or only applicable from the time it is passed?
RE: Perhaps a grace period of one year for a child of a parent who become naturalized after the birth.
OK, assuming we adopt the above, do we make the law RETROACTIVE, or only applicable from the time it is passed?
In other words, do we rescind the citizenship of those who were already born who do not meet criteria number 1?
That would be prosecution ex post facto. It would only apply to those after the law was passed.
Good original thinking on his part. /s
Hey, Walker—in this case it’s a matter of changing the law (and how it’s interpreted).
Publicly saying you’ll enforce the laws now, in the heat of the race, doesn’t have much credibility when you were advocating amnesty, citizenship and open borders just two years ago.
