Ann Coulter and National Review writer Charles Cooke appeared on Hannity tonight to address Donald Trumps recent statements regarding his proposed wall across the Mexican border. The discussion soon led to a debate between Coulter and Cooke about whether Trump has ever been caught in a flip-flop.
Cooke began the conversation by saying that he was shocked by what he called the collective insanity, among conservatives, saying that Trump has not put any real plan forward to get Mexico to build it, while also saying that Trump has changed positions on issues multiple times.
Coulter responded by saying that Charles was exaggerating Trumps changes on issues over the years, saying he has been consistent on issues like immigration that matter most to him.
I dont think voters go out and think, well, hes been consistent for 20 years on this. He has certainly been consistent about caring about illegal immigration, Coulter said. He has long before now. It isnt a flip-flop on Planned Parenthood. He is not a politician, he is not familiar with all the deceptive ways Planned Parenthood will sneak through funding for abortion.
Cooke responded by saying that Trump has flip-flopped on taxes within the same day, and continued to bring up Trumps past liberal positions. Coulter emphasized that Trump was merely making a point about other issues, that he changed over time, and that other Republicans had far more egregious flip-flops on immigration and amnesty, than Trump has had.
When Cooke said that Trump had only recently decided to act like a conservative, Coulter insisted that he has been one since 1988.
He was at the Republican National Convention talking like a conservative, said Coulter. Youre catching him on these teeny-tiny little developments on a position.

But this Borg Collective that is developing around Trump is bizarre...it is almost like the drones that got brainwashed in 2007-2008 timeframe around Øbama. They are going to believe what they'll believe about him and God help the person who dares to interject facts into the situation. Trump not flip flopping? OK:

Something happened to Ann recently. Maybe she had a fall.
That little Charles Cook twit is irritating, isn’t he?
The idiot is also pimping the Cruz Birther BS.
Ann - U of Michigan Law, Ted - Harvard Law. Ann - Cornell, Ted - Princeton. Ann - clerked for Appellate Judge, Ted - clerked for the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court. Ann - polemic columnist, Ted - one of the leading litigators of the late 20th and 21st Century.
Only if one finds stubborn facts irritating.
He and Kevin W. and the usual suspects among the NR/GOPe have absolutely lost their minds over Trump.
They who always bemoan conservative purity tests because their favored candidates can’t pass them are now up in arms over whether what businessman Trump backed 20 years ago matches what he is advocating today.
And I challenge you to show me where this week Trump said that he would implement a flat tax were he elected president. Facts—though stubborn things.
Donald Trump is the most viable candidate who is strong on immigration who doesn’t make questionable, unpresidential comments daily.
He’s also a liberal and my ideals will not shift to vote for him.
Which shows Trump knows far more than this fool. As Trump says, when he goes after a property that a lot of other people want he doesn't publish a 19 point plan on how he is going to get it. He goes in a fights for it until he gets what he wants. That's the difference between academics and pundits, and people who actually do things in the real world.
People don’t stop to think about all the conservatives, or so-called conservatives we have sent to Congress, and how they have become Democratics - while keeping the R after their names. So, Trump held a few D positions in the past, and has now seen the light on many issues. That door swings both ways, and Trump has gone through the better door.
“That’s the difference between academics and pundits, and people who actually do things in the real world.”
“...and people who actually do things in the real world.”
bears repeating
Charles Cook and National Review:
“Bush!” “Bush!” “Bush!” “Bush!”
Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way.
The leftists haven’t flip-flopped Ann. They’re working full steam ahead on destroying the country all of the time and have never changed their agenda of doing just that.
I agree with you on that, as liberal as they come. I don’t believe Donna will get through the debates.
Its amazing to me. I’ve got longtime FReepers telling me that we need to give up a little more conservatism to defeat the RINOs.
I know, it’s as if the whole world has lost its mind.
