>>Another safety tip is to change the default web camera password for those and other IP camera devices

IP cameras are very convenient to use. Avoid using them.

Does she own one of those TVs that connect to the internet? I wouldn’t have one, they’re creepy.

I put electrical tape over the camera lens of every digital device in the house.

For anyone who has a Windows notebook with camera and microphone, I strongly suggest you use Device Manager to disable the drivers for the camera and microphone. They can always be reenabled if you want to use these devices.

Don’t hook up that smart tv to the internet especially one with a camera in it.

Internet security is easy. Unless you are specifically engaged on the internet pull the cable or shut off the network card.

I have one computer I use for internet only and another where I keep my data which has no internet capability. It’s easy enough to port with a usb stick. Computers are cheap enough to have a couple.

I’ve never used the webcam on my laptop and pasted a band-aid across the lens for peace of mind.

I have black tape over my camera eye on my laptop. If I need to use the camera, I can peel it off.

There’s a website out there that lets anyone monitor in real time any number of tens of thousands of IP cameras that haven’t had their default passwords changed.

Put one of these up without changing the password, you may as well live in a glass enclosure at the mall.

my dtr's computer received this scary warning suddenly from the "FBI" stating that she was looking at illegal content....to top it off, there was a picture of her sitting there, with our kitchen in the background....

from then on ALL of us have taped over the webcam.....

I know it was a virus but still, it was too close to home if they can do that...

Honey, from these comments, I see we are far from the only ones who use black electrical tape on our laptop webcam lens (and thicker covering for the mics on it, too).

This is the future of using windows 10. One of the Privacy options is to turn off the option to allow apps access to the camera! It is ON by default!

I do not think it is ever OFF and some hacker will be able to turn it ON.

So keep your clothes on when using your pc!
