Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stated that abortion is a fairly small part of what Planned Parenthood does, and that Maybe unless they stop with the abortions, we dont do the funding for the stuff that we want an interview broadcast on Tuesdays Hannity on the Fox News Channel.
Trump said of Planned Parenthood [relevant remarks being around 5:45] and his previous comments about shutting the government down to defund them and the positive things Planned Parenthood does along with his argument that, certainly, the abortion aspect of it should not be funded, by government, absolutely, They do good things, Im talking about defund having to do with the abortion.
Trump was then asked if they should get any taxpayer money, He answered, lets say theres two Planned Parenthoods, in a way. You have it as an abortion clinic. Now, thats actually a fairly small part of what they do, but its a brutal part, and Im totally against it, and I wouldnt do that.

The Donald: (6:19) lets say theres two Planned Parenthoods, in a way. You have it as an abortion clinic. Now, thats actually a fairly small part of what they do, but its a brutal part, and Im totally against it, and I wouldnt do that.
I figure it will be about 10 seconds after I hit the post button for one of the Donald Drones to come on and tell me that this is a brilliant strategic move that will sew up the women's vote.
But what I really see is a candidate who is clueless about the actual nature of PP. Per Rich Lowry:
The 3 percent factoid is crafted to obscure the reality of Planned Parenthoods business. The group performs about 330,000 abortions a year, or roughly 30 percent of all the abortions in the country. By its own accounting in its 20132014 annual report, it provides about as many abortions as Pap tests (380,000). The group does more breast exams and provides more breast-care services (490,000), but not by that much.
The 3 percent figure is an artifice and a dodge, but even taking it on its own terms, its not much of a defense.
The 3 percent figure is derived by counting abortion as just another service like much less consequential services. So abortion is considered a service no different than a pregnancy test (1.1 million), even though a box with two pregnancy tests can be procured from the local drugstore for less than $10.
By Planned Parenthoods math, a woman who gets an abortion but also a pregnancy test, an STD test, and some contraceptives has received four services, and only 25 percent of them are abortion. This is a little like performing an abortion and giving a woman an aspirin, and saying only half of what you do is abortion.
Such cracked reasoning could be used to obscure the purpose of any organization. The sponsors of the New York City Marathon could count each small cup of water they hand out (some 2 million cups, compared with 45,000 runners) and say they are mainly in the hydration business. Or Major League Baseball teams could say that they sell about 20 million hot dogs and play 2,430 games in a season, so baseball is only .012 percent of what they do.
Beginning of the flameout.
Trump has no idea what he’s talking about - but he talks anyway.
And the bots respond "yeah, but he's rich, so he's brilliant." - or "Why are you supporting Yeb?" - or "You don't understand the uniparty." Or....or....or....you get the drift.
The Donald really doesn’t do his homework sometimes.
He doesn’t know what he doesn’t know.
“But we need a dictator to fix America by bombing people and taking what we want”.
He’s a regular old George Washington. /s
I think Donald will inform the masses about what is happening at pp and will defend them from doing this evil. The masses at this point don’t believe it yet. They think the conservatives are lying about pp selling baby parts. They think the government would have already shut down pp if it were true. Sorry don’t shoot the messenger.
Defund them for doing this evil. Darn phone!!
Trump is using an old Clinton tactic....
Triangulating the issue...
I refuse to believe he that ill informed about PP...
I'm trying to be charitable. If he isn't ill informed, then he is intentionally deceptive. I don't have evidence to support the latter...
Saddest part of your post is that the average American has been hoodwinked into believing PP lies. I have been an RN for 35 years and have long been appalled at the ignorance of the majority I discuss this with. The MSM didn’t even mention the recent videos. Everyone including Trump should pay enough attention to see the lie. Never heard of a medical practice that offered sliding scale women’s services as an alternate though so PP has many women without a good alternative to the other needed services. America could do far better on education and healthcare and still shut Magaret Sanger’s slaughterhouses down. Offering a firm plan as an alternative along with PP shut down would be great from a candidate.
He seems to be doing a good job of pulling conservatives to the left but I guess that was what Bill Clinton intended when he asked Trump to run.
Trump is a liberal. Why don’t people understand this. If it was ANY other candidate in the GOP that said this, they would be crucified. But Trump says it, and it’s brushed aside as being politically “smart”.
But, but but....he tells like it is......um, um, um....he called Rosie a fat broad.....he, he, he, he .....MEXICANS!!!
At this point he’s most useful to the GOPe and the Democrats.
I’m fairly certain that even 1% is too much spent on the slaughter of innocent children.
Trump is painting himself into a corner on this issue. He likely wasn’t prepared to deal with it either considering his pro-life conversion occurred at the same time as all of his other about faces.
If he had been smart he would have said that he would defund PP and spend the same amount that had been allocated for PP on female oriented clinics and medical facilities that don’t provide abortions. It would allow him to take a stand against barbarism while making it hard to claim that he’s against women’s health.
I think its less being ill informed and more about being ill prepared to deal with this particular issue that he used to be an ardent supporter of.
Imagine if Jeb Bush said what Trump just said about Planned Parenthood. I doubt the bots would be backing Bush over a remark like that.
