WASHINGTONU. S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy apologized Tuesday for a mine spill in Colorado caused by her agency, but she indicated she didnt know much about what happened and would seek to fix any flaw in the agencys procedures.
I am absolutely deeply sorry this ever happened, Ms. McCarthy said at a news conference in Washington. But I want to make sure we react positively and in a way thats credible and we move this forward.

Gulf of Cortez...............
Life is a mess waiting to happen.
No to worry.. El neenyur will flush it to China.. They wont notice .
Immediately Obama told McCarthy, “You’re doing a heckuva job, Genie.”
Close enuf :-p
Had any private company done what they did the company would be destroyed and its officers facing huge fines and jail time.
When the government does it - gee, sorry...
Good question. Is Colorado listed as a “hostile” state by the White Mosque?
We're going to have to raise your taxes.
For a bureaucrat? No, I meant IT.
Bull crap. This is a deliberate act of terrorism by the US government. What is next ? Accidently dropping nukes on cities ? /sarc. How did that feel Uncle Sammy.
So will the EPA fine Colorado and New Mexico for not cleaning up this mess?
“she didnt know much about what happened”
Isn’t it her job to know? Fire her and hire someone who will find out (and throw those responsible in jail.)
EPA releases ‘accidentally’ millions of gallons of toxic effluent into a river protected against such by Federal Laws and EPA Regulations...
...and they say ‘we’re sorry’.
Joe Citizen accidentally has runoff from his barn temporarily run into a creek due to a heavy rain and he potentially is shut down by threatened fines & other punitive action. Sorry is not good enough.
Quite the dichotomy. /s
Oh...yeah. Right.
Of course it is! And when the news finally reports on the latest, she'll have more info!
McCarthy should be fingerprinted by now...RIGHT?
This is enough to make you grind your teeth, isn’t it?
Pitchforks and torches, I say.
Pitchforks and torches. Lacking that, tar, feathers, and a freshly split rail.
This is the kind of thing that burns me to the core. You or me would be on the ground, with a legislative boot to our neck, grinding, for the exact scenario you said, because it might endanger the spotted frogwart, or whatever.
THEY do it, nobody is fined, nobody is punished, they probably get a sympathetic look from the higher-ups who say “Look, we know you didn’t mean it, but it makes us look bad. We’ll take care of it, but try to be more careful in the future.” Smile. Pat on the shoulder, etc.
Meanwhile, we are having our face ground into the mud caused by the barn run-off, we have agents poking around looking for other things we might have done wrong, someone is pulling on a rubber glove...
I am simply amazed at this.
Maybe not. But Arizona certainly is. And New Mexico has a Republican Governor, right?
Weeeeeelll, seeing that it’s in Mexico, Do you think they’ll notice?.................
I was just over at “Wayne’s Word “ forum . Wayne is the head marine biologist for the big pond and writes the fishing report . Someone posted that the EPA still has not plugged the spill and doesn’t intend to . I don’t know if it’s true or not .
Last I heard it was still flowing at 500 gallons a minute.
