Nolte: "Trump Open To Continuing Taxpayer Funding Of PP" ?
Breitbart ^ | August 11, 2015 | John Nolte

8/11/15 John Nolte

During an interview with CNN Tuesday morning, Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump stated that he was open to the idea of continuing to fund Planned Parenthood with federal tax dollars.

“The problem that I have with Planned Parenthood is the abortion situation. It is like an abortion factory, frankly,” Trump said. “And you can’t have it. And you just shouldn’t be funding it. That should not be funded by the government, and I feel strongly about that.”

... But certainly the abortion aspect of it should not be funded by government, absolutely.”

It’s true that PP offers other services than abortion. But abortion is their biggest moneymaker by far.

The fact that it offers other services that actually do help a woman maintain her health is really a smokescreen. They use that fact as cover, politically, to justify their federal funds. What should happen is that PP is denied all federal funds and that money is diverted to other programs for low income women that offer free exams and such, but don’t perform abortions.

Actually ideally the money should be cut off period, but good luck getting that passed. The reality of it is that the money will be spent on “women’s heslthcare”; the best most realistic thing to do is divert it away from PP.

I believe that’s what Ted Cruz wants to do because he knows that even if money given to PP is earmarked to “not be for abortions” they will just use that money to pay for things other piles of money are for now, and use money previously used for other things to offset the costs of abortions (the “fungible” argument others have brought up on this thread).

Trump should understand this concept as a businessman.

You are hyping up an argument against Trump; he wasn’t asked about fungible Fed funds.

Trump isn’t popular because of his “longtime embedded conservative instincts” he’s popular because he fights.

Anyway, who in the current GOP lineup has those instincts? Walker Cruz mebbe.

The folks who gave us John Roberts are the ones who are DANGEROUS on Obamacare.

Right. Except that wasn’t the question Trump was answering.

Donald Trump doesn’t yet understand how underhanded Planned Parenthood is with their fungible funds...

... or how Karl Rove has been playing games with Planned Parenthood funds for decades:

Perot lost. Plus, Perot wasn’t taking on the Uniparty. And finally, we can vet the issues so much better than in 1992 on this thing called the internet.

"Perhaps Sen. Cruz needs a "reality" TV show. Or maybe he could start adopting multiple positions on any given issue."

That's always a plus for credibility. ;)

you know, that post might be worth something had anyone ever suggested Karl Rove for President. That’s really kind of childish on your part, to respond that way.

I didn’t realize our two and only two choices were Trump and Rove. Damn.....

Does Ted Cruz have solid gold bathroom fixtures? Because if he doesn’t, he just lost my vote!

Gold faucets are the upscale version of velvet Elvis paintings.

The folks who gave us Roberts ARE indeed dangerous on Obama Care...but so is Trump.

And yes, people like him because he fights - but if he ends up fighting for liberalism on some issues - is that smart? I mean I agree, people now hate Washington MORE than they love the country or the truth. Trump’s surge is proof.

Yes, Cruz is the one with those instincts more than anyone else...

....and it seems pretty clear you don’t understand the concept of fungibility.

But what are the women’s rights that Trump says need to be funded?

I never thought I would see the day that people who consider themselves conservative would come to the defense of funding Planned Parenthood, all money is fungible remember, all in the name of defending the latest grifter praying on us. If you give funds to PP earmarked for landscaping work on their clinics, that frees the equivalent amount for them to spend on abortion. The cult of personality must be a powerful thing to some. I do not personally understand it, but I can see it exists.

Amen, preach it. I don't understand it other than to realize that people now hate the GOP establishment MORE than they LOVE the country.

Has been since the beginning of the Trump surge....and I'm pleased that so many realize it (obviously you do).

The analogy is used is

Trump is the demolition crew, and Cruz is the construction crew.

I'll give him a pass. I literally didn't know until yesterday that the federal funds given to planned parenthood aren't supposed to be used for abortions.

Now clearly they're gaming the system on it. And if Trump wasn't aware of how the federal funding is supposed to work and how planned parenthood games it then he will be soon.

This would be a great time for Trump to change his position. He could say "I just found out something. Planned Parenthood takes money that's not supposed to be used for abortions and is clearly using it for that."

But what are the women's rights that Trump says need to be funded?

Think it through. With Obamacare, nobody has to go to Planned Parenthood if they're not running their abortion-baby parts for profit industry. Without that, they'll cease to exist. It's a good tactic, to focus on the issue that everyone agrees on and let the rest take care of itself.
