While Donald Trump took aim at Megyn Kelly of Fox and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie launched a sharp attack against Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, Gov. John Kasich seemed to have completely different targets in Thursday’s Republican presidential debate.
The first was to demonstrate to Americans in both political parties he is an experienced politician who can govern the country. The second was directed at the moderate and independent voters — who will decide next year’s New Hampshire primary — that if they don’t like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Kasich is their man.
It was the most vivid sign yet that while Kasich may make a trip every now and again to Iowa, he is focusing his efforts on the crucial New Hampshire primary where independents, who can register as Republicans on the day of the election, helped propel Arizona Sen. John McCain in 2000 past Texas Gov. George W. Bush.
“That’s smart,” said Mary Anne Marsh, a Democratic consultant in Boston. “He’s not going to win Iowa. But Iowa never picks presidents. New Hampshire does.”

That is just the opening tactic for people like him. It wouldn’t just stop there.
I really wish Kasich was more conservative. He has an excellent resume and record. But, some of his RINO policies are a little much. However, if he is the last person standing against the D machine, I probably would vote for him. (he is my governor)

They’ll vote Republican, but ONLY ONLY ONLY when they are convinced by say, Reagan, or Newt in 1994, or reality in 2010 and 2014——to abandon the liberals. They NEVER vote for us when we pretend to be one of them....they only vote when they decide to join us.
Kasich’s plan is doomed, period.

Correct, he belongs in a GOPe third party. These guys just don’t get it, it is not like we have trillions in surpluses to give away, we are dead broke. Last time I came back in the US I did not see an apply for benefits here sign, then again, guys like this get elected and they will have one.
Cristi sited one good stat at the “debate”, the fed budget is over 70% entitlements and interest. So, what do we do, put more people on more dole programs? With Kasich that is what he is saying.
I think the whole PAC/CoC/Crony Donor apparatus is behind Bush myself. Why? The structure they badly want is already there left over from 2 Presidents before him. Couple this with the perceived ability of this Mexican to get Hispanic votes (a myth in my opinion) and they’ll go over the cliff with him before switching to Kasich.
They will not abandon him. They’ll kill somebody before that happens.
You have to have an ego to be a politician. That’s just the way it is. I remember when Kasich was running here in Ohio in 2010, he and his entire family came to our little city and marched in the July 4th parade. He is more down-to-earth than people think - even though he is confident and rather wealthy. One wouldn’t know it, but I think his net worth according to his filings - was around 9 million dollars.
Watch FOX start shilling for him if Dumbo III falters.
Kasich’s sanctuary cities still get their $$.
He turned around on Medicaid after the obama golf outing.
If there’s no Dem contest to worry about you can bet a million dollars every lefty on the NH seacoast and in the north country will be in there voting for a big government republican. A GOP establishment fave will win the primary with 15% of the conservative vote and go on to lose the general election by the standard 3%. Dems couldn’t successfully govern a cub scout troop but they’re super good at politics and fraud and gaming the systems. Structurally, this is hopeless without a candidate that will pull from the left’s normally reliable base. And some mamby pamby immigration rhetoric or talking about love like Bush or Kasich isn’t going to accomplish that.
A round of golf with Obama is to Republicans what kryptonite is to Superman, but it works faster.

Let’s have discernment in Washington. If a single outing with Obama turns this man’s head, he does not have the moral or ethical strength we need at this crucial time.
