A few hours before Thursdays Fox News debate, a friend of Donald Trumps confided to me that Trump was nervous. Not about the competition he could handle them. No, Trump worried about Fox News, and in particular, debate moderator Megyn Kelly. Shed been hammering him all week on her show, and he was certain she was out to get him.
He had canceled a Fox News appearance on Monday night, the friend said, in order to avoid her. (Trumps spokeswoman wouldnt confirm or deny this.)
It turns out Trump was right. His toughest opponents Thursday night werent the candidates up on stage, but the Fox News moderators, who went right after him none with more gusto than Kelly.
Kelly, the whip-smart queen of Fox News' blonde stunners, went straight for the jugular. "You've called women you don't like fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals," she admonished Trump. "Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?"
But Trump saw her coming a mile away and cut her off. "Only Rosie ODonnell," he barked, drawing cheers from the crowd.
When Kelly tried to point out that he had insulted more women than ODonnell, Trump, as he would all night, steamrolled right past her. "The big problem this country has is being politically correct," Trump practically shouted, invoking conservatives favorite term of disdain. "Ive been challenged by so many people and I don't frankly have time for total political correctness and to be honest with you this country doesn't have time either." The crowd went wild.
Maybe they were cheering because the question was apropos of something Rachel Maddow would ask, and they were, after all, Republicans......

Trump is a democrap.
I believe he is in it to split the vote just like Perot did for the rapist.
And the other two need to be perp walked into the electric chair.
LOL! The GOPes on FR are beside themselves over last night.
That does seem to be the standard for what passes as media reporting these days. I have not watched TV news (with the exception of some local newscasts) since the day after the 2012 election.
Yup, many of the others seemed angry. Especially Perry.
I do think that if Cruz got the nomination Trump would not run third party. Best thing for the candidates not to do is try to have a name-calling match with Donald Trump. It may only encourage him to run third party against that candidate.
I doubt Trump is ‘afraid’ of anything... especially Kelly.
If anything he just does not want to put up with BS when he avoids it- Kelly had more to gain from a Trump interview than Trump does.
The early debate was good, somewhat easygoing, I expected the late debate to be more in that style, boy was I wrong.
Bill Hemmer and Martha McCallum did the debate host honors for the early debate. Thought they did a good job. More neutral.
Also, I haven’t watched the Hannity post-debate-show in total, but I know Trump and all or most of the others were on his show.
BTTT!
Fox has been on a mission since at least 2012 to destroy any conservative candidate in favor of the liberal Republican darling. The voter never can make a well informed decision on the candidates. No wonder we end up with losers.
Voters who hate the media love Trump, and is it any wonder why? He’s the only one who has the nerve to face off with them.
I'm solidly behind Cruz, but I'm about sick of the nonsense about Trump. The only funny thing about it is that is consistently blows up in the face of those spewing it.
The truth is, that without Trump on that stage last night, the “debate” would have been a snoozefest, and thus, no ratings.
Faux News was not fair nor balanced last night, but they, like Trump, recognize a good business opportunity when they see one.
If Trump took a hit and I think he did, despite some saying he did well in the debate, I think all Trump needs is another brouhaha to help him and this little incident will fade.
Also, I have never been a Kelly fan or watched her much but if people did not like this, how will Trump do when the left-wing host types are hosting the debate?
That that doesn’t destroy me, makes me stronger.
Megyn Kelly was a bitch last night. There, I said it!
Not sure I totally agree. The questions they threw at him weren’t “what are your plans for....”, “how would you....” Instead the questions were designed to put him on the defensive and not give the opportunity to share ideas, policies, etc.
Carson did a nice job but his questions were pretty soft. Same with Kasich and Huck. Christie just looked like an angry loud-mouth, even more than Trump.
Overall, very disappointing job by Fox. Fair and Balanced my butt
Calm down. Trump would be better than either Uniparty candidate, and last night proves how scared the Left/Right Establishment truly is.
If Trump took a hit last night, the nets would have flash polls out today telling us so.
That they don’t suggests that he didn’t.
When did Trump say any of that? I heard him talk about making donations to candidates, but I also heard him say that’s why our system is broken, which is true.
If Fox wanted to stop Trump from getting headlines, they have miserably failed this morning.
