Carly Fiorina was the clear winner of the early Republican presidential debateat least according to social media.
The former Hewlett Packard CEO joined six other contenders who failed to qualify for the evenings main event, which is restricted to the top ten candidates in recent polls. However, her performance in the undercard event generated a great deal of online enthusiasm.

ICarly? How clever!
Thank you for your concise comment on the nature of Carly’s situation at HP. I knew the attack on her handling of HP as CEO, was a fabrication.
That’s a subscriber service.
Carly Fiorina takes closing statement to go after Hillary Clinton, calls her a liar #GOPDebate
I didn’t know Lindsey Graham isn’t married. I thought it was odd that he said that he wasn’t and didn’t have any children and is 60 years old. I did a quick search and all the liberal rags jumped on that saying he may be outed as gay. I have no idea but it was a strange turn.
I like Fiorina, Perry, Gilmore and Jindal. But really, how much can they say in such a short time? Silly format. Smooth talkers have the real advantage and not sure that is what we want. Fiorina is well spoken AND she has substance in what she says.
I had them tied.
confident, articulate, gave the difference between progressives and conservatives.
They’re using a twitter response poll to rate the debate performance. Just reporting the results announce a minute ago, no commentary on my part (did not watch). Everyone is under 10% and Carly is over 80%.
I’m watching Fox News right now on http://www.zahitvstation.com/watch-fox-news-live
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, I can’t download the app without a pay TV subscription. :-(
Trump has said she was fired from Hewlett-Packard. He’s right.
She has been described as one of the worst tech CEOs of all time,[70][71][72] though others have defended her business leadership decisions and viewed the Compaq merger as successful over the long term.[9][73][74][75]
Opinions on Fiorina’s business career are divided, as they are influenced by media rankings during her time at HP which claimed that she was the “most powerful woman in business,” and by claims after her resignation that she was the “worst tech CEO of all time.”[70][71][72] In 1998, Fortune magazine ranked Fiorina as “most powerful woman in business” in its inaugural listing[67] and she remained in that listing throughout her tenure at HP.[68] In 2004, she was included in the Time 100 ranking of “most influential people in the world today”[76] and named tenth on the Forbes list of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.[77]
Since her forced resignation, CBS News,[70] USA Today[71] and Portfolio.com[78] have ranked Fiorina as one of the worst American (or tech) CEOs of all time. In 2008, InfoWorld grouped her with a list of products and ideas as flops, declaring her tenure as CEO of HP to be the sixth worst tech flop of all-time and characterizing her as the “anti-Steve Jobs” for reversing the goodwill of American engineers and alienating existing customers.[79] According to an opinion piece by Robin Abcarian in the LA Times, Fiorina “upended HPs famously collegial culture, killed off its beloved profit-sharing program and hung her own portrait between those of the companys two sainted founders” before “flam[ing] out in spectacular fashion”.[80] Katie Benner of Bloomberg View described Fiorina’s leadership at HP as a “train wreck” and a “disaster”.[81]

“She was asked a direct question about Trump.”
One of the good things about iCarly is she has been asked a lot of direct questions, but she has been able to not answer them and turn it around on the questioner.
So now you are saying she was trapped by the media questioner?
Carly won hands down. Smart. Logical. Un-muddled, concise, and well thought out. She would make a good statesman / world leader. Certainly understands what it means to lead (and if US does not, who does??)
That may well be, but Jindal answered questions in a bright, dynamic fashion.
Carly just rehashed her stump speech.
She complimented Trump and pointed out Bill Clinton’s call to Trump. She was classy about it. Handled it well.
Where was Sen. Cruz?
Well, it is just about impossible for any Republican to win statewide office in the California . Let alone against an incumbent.
Nevertheless Fiorina is unlikely to be on the 2016 ticket (unless as VP)
So you think she’ll take Ohio or NC or Virginia?
No thanks. She was a so-so CEO, terrible Senate candidate and is a backdoor Establishment type.
Commerce secty maybe.
If that's true, we all need to start hanging around the bowling alley in lieu of charm school.
Ambassador.
“I thought she did very well except for the question on Trump. Most will disagree with me - her statement on Trump was praised on Fox and apparently played repeatedly on CNN - but to me it sounded flip and fake, like something that had been written for her and she had memorized”
Interesting.
iCarly is a GOPe RNC candidate. She has done well and been perhaps a bit too independent and capable.
Her canned answer was her dues for not being turned on by the GOPe.
She is an expert at not answering media questions but turning gotcha questions to her advantage.
She chose not do that in this case, did she?
