Police are responding to a call of an active shooter at the Carmike 8 Cinemas on Bell Road in Antioch.
The incident occurred just after 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
Dispatch confirmed three EMS units have been sent to the scene.
Witnesses at a nearby business reported one person covered with blood.

The childhood home of Charlize Theron is at the center of a murder investigation for the second time in its dark history.
The house in Benoni, near Johannesburg, South Africa, where the Oscar winner’s mother, Gerda Maritz, shot Charlize’s abusive father dead in self defense in 1991, is now the scene of a brutal murder, reported Sowetan Live.
The most recent resident, Barry Newland, was killed by a gang of five robbers who gained access to the property on Friday by pretending to want to view one of the cars he repaired and sold from his home-based business.
Once his hired help had let them in, the intruders bound and gagged Newland with a plastic bag until he suffocated. He was also burned with cigarettes and a clothes iron, according to Police Spokeswoman Lieutenant Nomsa Sekel.
Along with the brutal murder and torture, a cell phone, laptop, two cameras, iPod and a gold chain were stolen during the attack. No arrests have yet been made in the case and the police are investigating.
Snow White And The Huntsman star Charlize has recently been outspoken about the horror she and her beloved mother endured at the house, but she has admitted that she used to lie about it and say her dad died in a car crash for fear of what people would think.
“I think, for me, it took a long time to sink in, what had really happened because you just don’t think stuff like that will ever happen to you,” Theron, who was just 15 at the time of the shooting, told ABC News’ Diane Sawyer in 2004.
The South African teen was in her bedroom when her father and an uncle came home after a bout of drinking. “Nature gives you instinct. And I knew something bad was going to happen,” she revealed.
Her mother later testified that Charlize’s father began shooting at the front gate and banged on the door of Theron’s bedroom saying, “Tonight I’m going to kill you both with the shotgun.”
The actress said after her father fired into her bedroom door, her mother grabbed a handgun and shot him. The shooting was ruled an act of self defense and Gerda was never prosecuted.

Good to know about the status of that area. We transit though there a few times a year, but generally don’t stop in that section of 24. Usually we stop at a really good BBQ place on the edge of a bad part of town in Chattanooga, or else in Manchester or Murfreesboro. Every now and then we’ll go to a nice restaurant in Germantown.

Info outside Nashville every 6 months to see an orthopedist. Arrogant guy, but good if you don’t step on his ego. I had the nerve to politely question having xrays done for tendonitis and nerve compression.
Anyway, what is there to do and see in west Nashville? Or is it a part of town to stay away from?

There was a time in America when you did not rob trains, did not rob banks, did not shoot up churches, did not shoot up theaters.
Then someone did it.
Now all are fair game except trains which no longer carry anything worth robbing.
Mu thoughts is, some guy mad at the world sees all those happy people out there and decides to inflict his “suffering” on them before killing himself or being taken out by a cop.
Antioch is SE Nashville and heavily suburbanized. West Nashville is on the opposite side of the county and parts of it are bucolic (where the Natchez Trace leads out).

One dead suspect yet in that image they have enough equipment and resources for multiple wounded. Hook and ladder? And it appears this is long after the incident was over as the press has already set up. Seems a bit odd.
Must have been a long time ago. I lived in Nashville for most of the 2000s and I would never go to the Hickory Hollow Mall unless I absolutely had to. Totally gang-infested.
Watch for this in the news coverage: “A police officer on the scene told reporters, ‘The gentleman entered the theater and began hacking at patrons with an axe...’”
I wonder if Obama will visit the area now that this has happened, he has visited another hell hole in the Nashville area a couple times this year. The area is a hell hole of democratic voters, he will be wanted to visit the area very soon in my opinion.
