Netflix is to give employees unlimited maternity and paternity leave during the first year after the birth or adoption of a child, it has been announced....
...Parents can return part-time, full-time, or return and then go back out as needed. Well just keep paying them normally.
This is in stark contrast to the USs maternity leave legislation, which mandates for a mere 12 weeks of paid leave. Paternity leave isnt legislated for at all....

The girl who wrote this seems to think all American businesses have that kind of coin.
Obviously no economic education.
Yes, that’d be my guest. More power to them if they don’t raise my monthly rate because of it.
guess.....frigging autocorrect
Hmmmm....what could go wrong? Kind of like the CEO that raised his salaries, for all, to $70K. We see where that got him.
So how much is my subscription going to rise?
Remember that idiot that gave raises to all of is employees to the tune of $70K for minimum beginning wages including himself. He just proved why socialism doesn’t work and yet you venture into the same waters...
I was just going to say, maybe they will go belly up now, because I don't see how they could not raise prices. We shall see.
This might be a workable option for Netflix, depending on their employee population.
This will only engender resentment amongst the childless
How about some fairness for the fellow workers who have to take up the slack? Do supervisory personnel, who will likely fill the vacancies, get additional pay? Not generally.
There was an article about several tech companies offering “unlimited vacation time”. Wound up that any time someone took a vacation, the others working there would look askew at that person.
By the time it was over, the (probably gay) tech company owners had the last laughs - people actually took LESS vacation, since there was no “use it or lose it”.
And $70,000 apiece for all the employees? What happens if everybody takes ma-paternity leave permanently?
Lots of liberals think that employers have unlimited money and that they can pay employees any amount of money they choose.
My company just started offering unlimited vacation time to senior employees. I think of it as a form of reverse psychology.
My plan is good until May 2016, it says. I can’t see how they can do this economically.
We’ll just have to wait and see I guess.
I have noticed a leftward bent to their programming and offerings. They seem to totally ignore user indicated preferences and tastes in their recommendations and best picks....
I’ve gone through their whole litany of various tastes, preferences, themes, genres and still keep getting homo and lesbian stuff come up. It’s as if they don’t even look at your inputs any more.
My understanding is that Netflix also has an expense reimbursement system where you get 100% certainty of approval and repayment, no matter what you choose to expense.
Just one catch: all expense reports are visible to everyone in the company. The thinking is that the transparency will keep people from abusing the system.
I imagine this policy is much the same - take as much time as you need, but it will be visible.
So if you give birth once a year you never have to work. Sounds like welfare.
The prices will go up and selling point will be “ but it’s less than the cost of cable”, “less than the cost of 2 movie tickets,” “less than the cost of date night.....”
