Here's a quick FYI: if you installed Windows 10, and in a rush to try out Microsoft's new operating system, you clicked through the default settings without looking, you may want to look again.

There's a handy guide here to the settings you need to look out for during the install and afterwards.

Ping.
Windows 7 does it too. My bet, just not as well.
I too have Windows 7 and it works just fine. I can’t think of any reason to upgrade. And if Microsoft tries to force me to upgrade, I will probably purchase a Mac.
One of the links mentioned seems very useful for those with security concerns.
Pictures included.
Installed Windows 10 on a laptop I rarely use over the weekend just to see what it looks like.
No, I definitely did not go with the “express” default settings. Too much info sent to microsoft, etc. Also I turned off microphone and camera options.
Talk about invasive. I wonder what they’re not telling you. Its starting to look like Gates got a huge payoff from fedgov to design a new version of Windows to change it from an OS to an OS plus NSA spyware so they could give it away “free”.

Where you think what? That Apple still supports old versions of OSX? They dont even support their own hardware after 5 years barely.
Seriously, no one is “forcing” you to do anything.
It’s the same silly narrative with every Windows release. Wacky stories of exaggerated calamities and people swearing that (pervious windows version) was far better and they will never use anything newer...only to then do so and swear that one was the best version. I’ve seen people in comments “swear” by every version between XP and 8.1 as being the only good one. You all can’t be right.
Bkmrk.
Windows 3.1 all the way!
LOL that’s why being a FReeper is so good.
No worries about security, you KNOW you’re at the top of the list.
IT has been all down hill since Windows 3.1
